Neal's Yard Remedies Sensual Jasmine Body Cream
by sparkle1004
I love body creams, body lotions and body butters. I own more of them than I could possibly use but this doesn't stop me wanting more. I recently received an early birthday present in the form of the Sensual Jasmine Body Cream by Neal's Yard Remedies.
What does the product do?
The product promises to deeply moisturise ... the skin to leave it feeling really soft. It also promises to nourish the skin using lashings of natural ingredients including Fairtrade Brazil Nut Oil, Honey and Sunflower Seed Oil. As well as softening and conditioning the skin, it also claims to the skin deliciously fragranced using the essential oils of Jasmine and Ylang Ylang. It also contains citrus ingredients in order to tone and brighten the skin.
How do you use the product?
The product is to be applied to freshly cleansed skin, either dry or damp, and then massage the product into the body until it has been fully absorbed. It can be applied to the skin as often as needed.
Packaging and Price
The product is contained within a heavy glass purple jar. The purple glass has been designed to protect the natural ingredients inside from becoming affected by sunlight and preserving them. It has a label stuck around the glass which gives more information about the product. The product has a black screw top lid which allows you to control the exact amount of the cream that you want to use so there will be no wastage. If you have long nails then this cream will get caught under them so you may prefer to use a spatula. The product is a pricey one and will cost you around £29 for 150 grams. It can be bought from stores such as Boots and Debenhams or from a variety of online websites.
Application and Performance
The cream has a rich and luxurious consistency and you can tell that the product is a good make just by looking at it. It has a lovely but strong aroma which is very evident as soon as you remove the lid. The scent is largely floral but it has a scent aroma as opposed to an old fashioned one. The product has been created using mostly natural ingredients so you know you will be given your skin a lovely treat. The cream is quite thick but you still don't need to apply much in order to get the desired results. It is white in colour but this doesn't make your skin paler. It is absorbed quickly by the skin so you won't have to spend ages massaging this one in.
Once it has gone, it leaves behind a healthy sheen that makes your skin look in a good condition and it doesn't make you skin feel sticky, greasy or unclean. The cream is really hydrating and it soothes the skin almost immediately removing any uncomfortable feelings of dryness or tightness. My skin feels silky, soft and smooth after application and remains that way all day so it has long lasting results. It hasn't caused me to develop any irritations or discomfort. It goes some way to moisturise my tricky dry spots such as my knees and elbows but it doesn't manage it completely. The beautiful aroma stays on the skin for ages and it leaves me feeling pampered.
Conclusion
All in all, this is a rich and luxurious body cream which hydrates the skin well to leave it feeling soft and smooth. It improves the condition of the skin and coats it with the sweet aroma of Jasmine. This is expensive but it is packed full of natural goodness and makes a lovely gift for others or a lovely treat for yourself. Read the complete review |

Neal's Yard Geranium & Orange Body Scrub
by kubs1989
I was lucky enough to find this product in a charity shop for 50p!!!! It usually retails £16.35 for a 50g tub direct from Neal's Yard. I had no experience of using these products prior to buying this, I just knew they were quite pricey so quickly snapped it up!
Neal's Yard concern themselves with organic, natural, health and ... beauty products. This body scrub aims to refresh and smooth dull and dry skin with a concoction of essential oils, shea butter and dead sea salt.
--Using the product--
Immediately as soon as the lid is lifted on the tub, the smell of the essential oils is apparent, in particular the geranium, which is a very strong smell that fills the bathroom. The product is easily scooped out of the tub ready to apply to the body, although I find it very hard to stop water from filling up the tub when I use this in the shower, but this is not a fault specific to this product. 1 to 2 scoops are needed per limb.
The grittiness of the scrub is apparent as soon as this is on the skin, the sea salt particles make this scrub quite harsh, so I would not recommend this to people with sensitive skin. The medium consistency of the scrub allows it to remain on the skin and rub in, rather than running straight off the body. The moisturizing properties of the shea butter and essential oils can be felt and seen immediately as the product is rubbed over the skin, skin feels silky smooth and moisturised.
Washing off the scrub is not too much bother, although a some particles do need encouragement to wash off the skin.
--Results--
Skin feels immediately softer, smoother and brighter, so it does perform well and do what it claims. The fragrance from the scrub stays on the skin for several hours after using this and the softness lasts for several days, so it only needs to be used about once a week. If used all over the body, once a week I think this would last about 6 weeks until it runs out.
One thing that is a pain is the residue left in the sower/bath! It takes a bit of cleaning afterwards to remove the particles that linger.
--Overall--
I am pleased with the results from this scrub, however I am not convinced that cheap products or even homemade products can't do the same! For £16 I do not think I will be buying this again, but if I spot it in the charity shop again I will not hesitate to but it!!
4 stars because of the price Read the complete review |

Neal's Yard Geranium & Orange Body Scrub
by duskmaiden
I like a little luxury in my life so was very pleased to receive a tub of Neal's Yard Remedies Orange and Geranium Body Scrub last Christmas.
Neal's Yard Remedies are based in London's Covent Garden and are an extremely good option for those who care about what goes into their cosmetics. In a way they are a more ... traditional, middle class version of Lush, as they both produce natural, ethical products. Neal's Yard believe in using entirely (natural and organic where possible) ingredients that have not been tested on animals. The label on my pot of body scrub has a list of what is not in the product from silicone to synthetic fragrances and colours a mile long. Natural beauty does come at a price, as according to the Neal's Yard website this 200 gram tub of body scrub is £16.35 so for me a real luxury product.
The body scrub is meant to refresh and smooth dull and dry skin. It is made from Dead Sea Salt and ground rice for exfolliating purposes, shea butter for moisturising purposes and of course geranium and orange oils. The geranium oil seems to be key here, as it has antiseptic healing properties to help prevent blemishes on the skin whilst the orange oil has an uplifting effect.
The product is presented fairly simply and traditionally in a dark blue plastic pot with a screw top which is very easy to remove even in a shower. Inside the pot is a dark cream, light peach coloured light paste with darker brown flecks, which I assume are the ground rice. The smell is slightly floral. I can't really detect the orange at all. This is a real negative point for me, as I am far more a fan of citrus and fruity scents than the floral one of the geranium that dominates.
Using the scrub is fairly easy. I tend to scoop a small dollop out of the tub and rub in damp skin. I tend to concentrate on the rougher areas of my body such as elbows, knees and sometimes do my back. You just need to massage it in using circular movements to really make the scrub work. It is a pretty firm paste that warms up and loosens on contact with the skin. It's got quite a gritty texture from the dead sea salt and the ground rice and I really feel that it works sloughing away the dead skin. Once its rubbed in, the skin has an almost waxy feel to it, which I attribute to the moisturising properties of the shea butter. My skin feels pretty smooth and soft. The one thing that I really do not like about the scrub is the gritty residue it leaves at the bottom of the shower once I have rinsed it off.
I have been using this scrub on and off about once a fortnight for the past ten months and sill have a thin layer of it at the bottom of the tub. Although it does seem expensive it is extremely long lasting thus is not bad value for money. . I am really pleased I got this scrub as a present, as it does work but I'm not keen on he smell and it can make a mess of the bottom of your shower or bath. Read the complete review |
