Active:Naturals Pomegranate & Fig Bath Essence

What should a bath essence actually do? What is its function? Should it colour the bath water, make it silky or moisturising? Should it perfume the water, or act as a pick-me-up for the senses? Should it cleanse and soften the skin? Provide a bathful of bubbles to sink into and relax? I don't think it's too much to ask that this pomegranate and fig bath essence do at least one of the things above. But when I tested it, it did nothing.
