Advantages: Floral and subtle wit loads of bubbles
Disadvantages: None
For about a month now my life has got that hectic that I haven't really had any time for myself let alone my beloved Lush! On my recent break to London (which was a surprise by Mr Pea to cheer me up!) I had to make a visit to the Lush store on Regent Street. Now most Lush stores which have a more "international" feel to them and yes I know I was in London but in the capital city I thought Lush would of made more of an effort, instead the store is situated right at the end of the street by Piccadilly Circus and unless you notice the Lush sign hanging off the wall you would walk straight past it! But once you get in and go downstairs you feel right at home in the world of Lush!
After dragging Mr Pea downstairs you are hit with that sweet almost over powering smell of Lush, however I was slightly disappointed as the store was not as stocked up as it probably should have been, maybe its because tourists have bought so much! But that wasn't going to stop me! I knew exactly what I wanted and needed and was determined not to over do it, especially as I will have to carry the bag around with me for most of the afternoon!
One of my all time favourite bubble bars is Amandopondo and I happened to stock up in London! As far as bubble bars go, this unpretentiously elegant ivory "cake" with a single ruby red rosebud on top is nothing short of understated perfection. Please don't think that just because it isn't covered in neon coloured glitter and stuffed full of confetti (or shrapnel) that it isn't fantastic! The sensually seductive scent of rose is offset by the breezy innocence of refreshing lemon oil, lending a pleasant air of contradiction and leaving you torn between the recollection of summer days playing outdoors (complete with scuffed knees) as a young girl, and midsummer nights indoors playing the role of seductive feminine icon as a woman.
According to Lush, Amandopondo means "I'm defeated," and this bubble bar was designed to be a gesture of peace when we've done something we regret. In my opinion, Amandopondo is the perfect tribute to the gradual, lifelong blossom of womanhood, celebrating everything from where we've been to where we are now, and the limitless potential of where we can go from here.
As Edith Piaf once sang, "je ne regrette rien": for those who cling to regret for past mistakes (which are all part of the growing process, you know - now I do really sound like my mother!), this bath will be certain to wash them away: while rose pulls your head out of the past, lemon renews your spirit, momentarily releasing all the baggage you've collected on your journey thus far.
Amandopondo melts incredibly easily in the bath so you don't have any little lumps or bumps left at the bottom. If you're gentle you can get two baths out of it if you're split it in half - but be careful, this bubble bar is fragile and can shatter into millions of pieces if you're too heavy handed with it!
What Lush say:-
"Lemon and rose to help you forgive and forget.
The Amandopondo is scented with rose absolute with a twist of lemon and orange oils. Each little cream pillow of Bubble Bar has a rosebud on top to symbolise an appeal for forgiveness, like a bunch of roses, but a lot more useful. Present one to anyone to whom you owe an apology; once they have bathed in its fragrant foam with rose to soothe resentment, lemon to clear the mind and orange to lift the spirits, all should be forgiven."
Amandopondo is one of the cheaper bubble bars and it will cost you £2.36. Which I think is fantastic considering its one of Lush's best sellers and no doubt it's better than a lot of the more expensive bubble bars!
In my opinion this is a bubble bar where you just can't go wrong. The scent is lovely and fragrant and is far from over powering, it provides a lovely soft watered bath and you are left smelling sweetly afterwards. Considering its low price I think it's an absolute bargain to treat yourself with after a long day at work!
Summary: Ideal for anyone at anytime!
