Advantages: No streaks and no tango effect

Disadvantages: still has the smell of fake tan but not really that bad

As I have mentioned in previous reviews I am very much an English rose, so yes sometimes I do fake it. Having a nice healthy (not orange) tan can give a girl added confidence, and generally just make you feel happier about yourself. So probably around once a month, at the mo (more often in summer. I do my own fake tan.
I used to get them done in salons but having had so many bad experiences - ORANGE tango woman the day of my brothers wedding from StTropez! Then I found a great beatician who brought her spray booth to my house, that was great as she put on just enough to give me a good tan, but unfortunately she is curretnly off on maternity leave.
So I have had to go it alone!
Wooaaaahhh scary stuff I know. So I went through a phase of trying many different brands. I tried the tan as you go versions with fake tan in namely - Johnsons, Dove and Nivea. But they neither moisturised nor gave me a good tan!
Then i tried a number of other fake tans - fake bake and the st tropez moisturiser version but neither of them really did it for me. The colour just wasn't right with these versions and the preparation and application was just one big faf.
So with a degree of apprehension I tried a spray version. I started off trying the L'oreal sublime bronze. But I found that this really did not give a very good look and I tended to end up with bad streak marks. Then I tried the predeccessor to this ambre solaire tan that needed to be rubbed in, which I have to say did igve a good colour. But by far the winner, has to be this product. It costs in the region of £10.99, but I normally tend to buyit when it is on special offer - bogof etc.
It gave me a good colour that does not look at all orange or fake, it does not streak and the can EVEN sprays upside down to enable you to get to those hard to reach places.

SO what is the secret to a good fake tan
- 1. Have a shower, not to hot.
- 2. do an all over body scrub, paying particular attention to elbows, knees, ankles, around the toes / fingers.
-3. Then when you are all clean and scrubbed. Dry yourself thoroughly.
DO NOT APPLY MOISTURISER
-4. Using a light unscented moisturiser apply a small amount to - knees, ankles, hands inc fingers, toes, ankles
This is to avoid to much of the fake tan from sticking in these areas and giving you random dark areas or streaks!
-5. Tie your hair up out of the way and remove any jewellery, watches etc
-6. Now your ready to start with the spray
-7. I tend to stand in the bathroon in front of the mirror so I can see what I am doing, make sure you cover the floor. Oh and try not to stand on the area where you have sprayed or you get feet like an oompa loompa underneath! Oh yes I have done that before!
-8. So start spraying about 4-6 inches away from your skin, i start on my hands giving a slight spray and ensure that fingers are bent. Then methodically spray yourself all over, ensuring that you cover everywhere. don;t over spray it tho or you will end up with drips.
-9. I tend to start the tanning a few days before I need it, that way you can build it up gradually and not over do it.
-10. So once you have sprayed everywhere you want to tan, wait 5 mins or so, before re-dressing. There is no need to blend or buff or anything which is the beauty of this particular product.
-11. ideally you want to do this before you go to bed, so that it can develop while you are sleeping. Then shower in the morning and go over any areas that you may have missed or an all over reapply to develop the colour.

i have to say it did take me a few applications to get the perfect finish, but it is well worth it and saves a fortune on tanning booths not to mention the saving on your skin in the future.

Summary: a quick, easy and healthy looking tan
