Advantages: Foams up nicely, tastes good
Disadvantages: Perhaps a little pricey
When buying toothpaste, I usually like to opt for something which promises a whitening effect on my teeth - and whilst in reality, any whitening is likely to be incredibly minimal, the claim always gives me a psychological boost which makes me feels like my teeth are somehow being rejuvenated.
My latest toothpaste purchase was the 'Aquafresh Extreme Clean', which currently costs £2 for the 100ml tube from Tesco. As toothpaste prices go, £2 is only slightly above the average, which seems to be around the £1.80 mark.
The tube itself is silvery white in colour and features a screw top cap rather than the traditional 'flip-open' style. Personally, I find this particular design to be better, as it seems to stop all the old gunky toothpaste forming around the nozzle.
-[Ingredients]-

Whilst i'm not sure how helpful a toothpaste ingredient list is, i'll include it anyway, incase anyone is looking out for a particular ingredient to avoid;
Aquafresh Extreme Clean contains;
Aqua, Hydrated Silica, Sorbitol, Glycerin, PEG-6, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Aroma, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Fluoride, Sodium Saccharin, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Titanium Dioxide, Cl 74260, and Cl 73360.
Like the majority of toothpastes, the directions on the tube suggest using a 'pea-sized' amount. In fact, this particular paste foams up rather effectively, which, in the long run, results in a product which represents good value for money.
-[Taste & Appearance]-

The paste itself has the traditional Aquafresh striped appearance - although, it's more of a green, white and red, rather than the blue, white, and red which the brand is famed for.
The flavour is very pleasant - and whilst I wouldn't recommend that you consume too much of the stuff, I would say that it's almost tasty. It's a very minty concoction with menthol overtones that you would perhaps associate with extra strong chewing gum. It's certainly more pleasant to the bog-standard Aquafresh paste, which I find to have a slightly soapy aftertaste.
In terms of the claimed whitening effect, I can't really notice any difference - even though i've been using it twice daily for a month. That said, I don't have a tooth colour chart to compare the before and after results to (it would perhaps be slightly creepy if I did!).
Final Word

In terms of its general flavour and long lasting nature, I would highly recommend this particular toothpaste - it foams up nicely, and feels like it's helping rid the mouth of all that nasty plaque and bacteria. At £2, it's not the cheapest paste out there, but it feels like this is a quality product - and that's good enough for me.
Summary: Effective and pleasant toothpaste
