Aquolina ~ Pink Sugar ~ Body Lotion
Last year for my birthday I received an Aquolina Pink Sugar Gift Set which contained a bottle of perfume, body lotion and shower gel. I had never heard of Aquolina products until I received the gift set, Pink Sugar is just one of three perfumes which are manufactured by Aquolina. Each of the Aquolina fragrances has matching body lotions, deodorants, talc's and shower gels to compliment and layer the scent of the perfume. As I received the Pink Sugar perfume and matching bath and beauty products as a gift I am unsure where you could buy it from and how much it would cost. I did a search on Yahoo and found a few online retailers who sell the Aquolina range of perfumes which I will list at the end of this review.
As you can see from the picture at the top of this review the tube of Pink Sugar body lotion is quite plainly designed. The tube of Aquolina Pink Sugar body lotion I have is a 250ml white plastic tube which has a bright pink flip style lid. I don't really like the design of the tube but all of the Aquolina products seem to have the same simplistic looking packaging.
The body lotion is easily dispensed from the plastic tube by gently squeezing it until you have dispensed the desired amount. I really like the consistency of this body lotion because it is really thick and creamy. Some body lotions which I have bought in the past have been really thin in consistency and left me rather disappointed but the consistency of this one is fantastic. I find that I only have to use a tiny amount of the body lotion in order to moisturise my full body. I find two blobs the size of a fifty pence piece is sufficient amount to use because it spreads evenly across my skin.
When I'm applying this body lotion I like to start from my feet and work my way up my body; because of the thick consistency of the body lotion I find that it is much easier to apply to my skin if I massage it into my skin in small circular motions. As this evenly distributes the body lotion onto my skin and it is absorbed much quicker. When I am massaging the body lotion into my skin it glides over the surface of my skin easily and doesn't have a sticky or greasy feeling like most perfumed body lotions do. As soon as I start applying the body lotion to my skin I can immediately smell the sweet aroma which is really similar to the perfume.
The body lotion is absorbed into my skin fairly quickly although I do need to wait for about a minute or so before I get dressed so as it is fully absorbed into my skin. The best thing about the body lotion is the fact that it leaves my skin feeling really smooth and highly moisturised. Most of the time fragranced body lotions which compliment perfumes usually just lightly fragrance your skin and don't moisturise it at all. So I was pleasantly surprised that the Aquolina Pink Sugar body lotion moisturised and fragranced my skin. I really liked the fragrance which the body lotion left on my skin because it wasn't as heavy and sweet as the perfume was. It left a delicate sweet aroma on my skin which smelled good enough to eat. The fragrance which the body lotion produced on my skin lasted or about 3 hours before it gradually faded away.
I found that if I used the body lotion and then sprayed the perfume onto my skin that it gave the perfume more staying power. This is because the matching body lotion acts as a base for the perfume to stick to and gives it an extra hour or two staying power before it needed reapplying. I would say that the perfume lasts on my skin for about 6 hours when I use the body lotion to layer the scent. If I don't use the body lotion to layer the scent then the perfume only lasts on my skin for about 5 and a half hours before it needs reapplied.
The actual aroma from the body lotion is almost the same as the matching Pink Sugar perfume although the body lotion has a much lighter aroma. The body lotion has a gorgeous raspberry, vanilla and sugary fragrance which I think smells really similar to raspberry ripple ice cream; hence the reason I said that it smells good enough to eat. There is a wide range of fragrance notes in the body lotion although the Raspberry, Vanilla and sugary sweet notes are the ones which are most identifiable when wearing the body lotion.
The perfume and the body lotion are described as having blends of Bergamot, Sicilian Orange, Fig Leaves, Raspberry, Lilly, Liquorice, Strawberry, Red Berries, Vanilla, Candy and Musk. The notes in the body lotion and perfume create a very fruity and sweet aroma which reminds me of sweets.
