Advantages: Actually keeps your armpits dry. Fine on Sensitive skin.
Disadvantages: None.
Introduction
==========
In my ongoing quest to find deodorant now that I can’t get hold of my usual one any more, I bought “Arrid Extra Extra Dry XX” Sensitive. There are other varieties available but this review is of the sensitive roll on version. The reason I chose it is firstly because it was one of the few I hadn’t already rejected and secondly, the packaging looked similar to what I used to get (Right Guard unperfumed) so I hoped it might be similar.
The packaging
===========
This is a roll-on deodorant and comes in a standard roll-on shape. The bottle is white plastic and the lid is blue. (I think different scents may be different colours).
On the front, the deodorant says it is:
+ “derma tested”
+ “sensitive”
+ “antiperspirant”
The back label also tells me that it is alcohol free and non sting. There is an ingredients list and instructions on how to use the deodorant.
The Aroma
========
As I prefer un-perfumed deodorants, I was a little dubious about the smell. It smells strongly of a combination of baby powder and aftershave and when you first put it on, it smells quite strongly. Fortunately, the smell disappears fairly quickly and now I don’t really notice it.
Using the deodorant
===============
The deodorant goes on just like any other roll-on deodorant. I was surprised to find that even though it does not contain alcohol, it dries more quickly than the average roll on. This means that you are less likely to get white marks on your clothes and even when you do they are barely noticeable.
So does it work then?
================
Yes.
I have used this deodorant for three days now and for the first time ever, I have found that it really does stop all wetness. In the past, I have been happy with a significant reduction in sweating such that it only happens when I feel very warm but this is much better. My armpits feel bone dry all the time which means I no longer have to worry about sweat marks when I am warm.
Any bad points?
=============
Before using it, I thought the smell may be a bad point for me but I have found that it didn’t actually bother me as much as I thought it might. I have therefore found no bad points.
Any other good points?
=================
In addition to being the best deodorant I’ve ever used, this deodorant does not irritate me which is a great advantage over Mitchum which works but irritates my skin (see previous review). Also, it was one of the sheapest available in the shop I was in.
Conclusion
========
This deodorant does exactly what it says: “24 hour protection helps keep you feeling cool, dry and confident all day”. The only thing I have not tested is the non-sting claim as I don’t usually shave my armpits however, given that it fulfilled all of its other claims, I would expect it to be fine for this also.
Overall, I would recommend this deodorant to absolutely everyone. In the words of the old Impulse advert, “Free Your Arms!” It’s amazing. Tell everyone about it.
Summary: It works, it's good value, it doesn't irritate my skin.

- 04/04/06 I might try it as i have awful sweat problems and so far have not managed to stop it. x |

- 03/04/06 Now that I'm older, I don't suffer the problem of excessive perspiration, but when I was younger it was most embarrassing. Arrid was one of the best over-the-counter anti-perspirants although I have to say Mitchum was slightly better. Lou x |
