I remember a coupld of years ago I went on holiday with a couple of friends and one of them had Beta Carotene cream as they said it made them go brown quicker. Being fair skinned, I don't tan too easy however having used sunbeds for several years on and off I find that I tan a lot quicker.
Avon Beta Carotene tan Maximising cream first appeared in my knowledge last year in there brochure and being as they offer good deals on sun creams around the holiday period I decided to try some and see if it lived up to my expectations.
The cream itself can be applied during the tanning process or after, however it does not have UV protection so you need to use addition protection if you are using whilst you are exposed to the sun. I tended to use this as aftersun as it does contain a moisturiser and cools the skin down after intense sun exposure.
The cream itself comes out like a dark yellow colour and when you apply it to the skin, it does most certainly cool it down. It desn't contain any form of tanning agent however once you have applied your natural tan seems to go a golden colour which is very nice when your tan is equal all over your body, not so nice when you have strap marks as it looks uneven.
I don't think that this protect maximises your tan, I think it just adds to the colour whilst it is on, it certainly doesn't prolong your tan, however from an aftersun point of view I think it is really good and stops you from peeling.
One thing that you do have to beware of that it does contain some form of colouring and when you apply to your skin, and its still slightly damp, if it rubs off on your clothes it does stain, but comes out once you wash it.
The product itself comes in 200ml bottle and at the moment it is on offer in the avon catalogue for just £3. It is definitely worth trying.
