Advantages: Smells lovely, cleanses and moisturises my skin
Disadvantages: --------------
I am not a fan of Avon perfumes, they always smell very cheaply made to me and never seem to suit my skin in terms of they generally make me itch and also they never seem to smell as good as I had hoped.
So it was with a heavy heart that I opened this Avon Far Away shower gel yesterday morning, it was a gift from my sister so thought I had better try it. I love the bottle because it looks grown up and sophisticated, a white bottle with a bright pink lid. The packaging has obviously changed since the photo above was added, but I must say it's nicer looking now I think. It's one of those bottles that stands upside down on its lid so that pouring out the shower gel in easy.
The flip top lid is very good, it stays open and closed with no leakage of the gel at all either while it is being used or when it is stored until the next time.
In the shower this morning I noticed that the thickness of the gel makes it more of a shower cream than a gel, immediately upon opening the bottle I noticed a rich and very pleasant scent which only seemed to get stronger as I poured some onto my sponge.
Like most shower creams, the lather is not terribly good from this Far Away and I found it to be quite a weak and thin layer of bubbles on my skin once I'd used my shower sponge. It did feel very cleansing though and once I was out of the shower and dried I did feel squeaky clean.
My skin also felt nice and moisturised, the parts of my body that are prone to dryness weren't magically made better but they were certainly no worse than before I had my Far Away shower. I still had to use my body moisturiser, but that is true of most shower products I use so I cannot hold that against this particular one.
The best thing about this shower gel though is the smell. Forget what I said above about Avon fragrances not being too good, this one is absolutely lovely. The Far Away fragrance is very sweet and slightly floral, one of those scents that I think would suit every woman from a 17 year old experimenting with perfumes right up to a more mature lady like myself.
The scent doesn't linger for too long, although you could lengthen this by applying the Far Away eau de toilette afterwards. Personally I don't use this perfume but I definitely like the smell enough to perhaps purchase a full sized bottle.
The Far Away shower gel is available from your local Avon lady, or alternatively you can place an order online but there is a delivery charge for doing this so I'd definitely recommend finding an Avon lady in your area. It costs £2.50 or thereabouts, but is quite often on special offer with other products so keep an eye out and stock up wherever possible.
Summary: A lovely shower gel from Avon.

- 07/10/08 I love the smell of Avon Far Away perfume. It's a great everyday perfume as it's so much cheaper than the designer brands. |

- 07/10/08 If you let an Avon lady into your house, the price will rise considerably, i.e., the money you're going to spend, heehee! |
