so much better than the perfume - I would recommend it!

My mum has done Avon on and off over the years, and recently she has decided to take it up again. However, she hoards loads of toiletries and was having a clearout when she offered me this Outspoken by Fergie body lotion. Initially I declined, as I have the perfume which I wasn't too big a fan of and couldn't imagine a body lotion being much better, but she insisted and who wants to say no to a brand new, unused gift? So I popped it in my bag and trotted off home.

The body lotion comes in a black, plastic tube with the matching purple calligraphy and silver swirly design as on the perfume bottles. It sits top down, with a flip top lid which is much better as it means you can easily squeeze it out without struggle and can pretty much use all which is in the tube.

The lotion comes out in a rather thick, rich lotion which is white with hints of glimmer. It is not sticky or greasy, and I find it quite easy to apply all over (although I avoid these kinds of products on my face and neck). It absorbs in rather quickly and does leave my skin feeling and looking well moisturised. In terms of nourishing properties my skin does not feel any more supple or soft after using this lotion, something I find is achieved much better with a good brand body butter but I do think for a night out, and for a nice all over scent and long lasting moisture this lotion does do a good job.

The tube describes the scent as "iced berry, ultra-feminine florals and racy black leather". Personally I find it very floral and sweet which is not too girly and light but has a deep, sultry edge to it. Surprisingly I did not like the perfume at all but the lotion is not too bad! I think perhaps because once it soaks into my skin and lingers, combined with a subtle natural body smell (not BO just good old fashioned natural aroma) it smells a lot more appealing.

The lotion has really good longevity, as whilst I prefer to use it for a night out to dinner or for drinks, when I come home hours later the scent can still be appreciated and has not wained. The staying power is so much better than the perfume and it still holds the same scent as it did from the beginning without fading to a more diluted version.

A 150ml tube can be bought on Amazon currently for £5.75 as I do not think this range is still being sold in the Avon brochures. Surprisingly I didn't think I would like this so much, but I actually do and I would recommend it! It smells nice, has good staying power and moisturises well, so I am happily ploughing my way through this tube!

a lovely body lotion to compliment the EDT

*I originally reviewed this as part of a gift set review on Ciao but it has been updated for dooyoo*

      ~Outspoken Body Lotion~

This body lotion is part of the Outspoken collection which Avon released. It was endorsed by singer Fergie. An EDT and body spray are also available.

The scent of this body lotion is identical to that of the perfume and is perfect for layering the overall scent. It is described as 'a bold blend of iced berries, feminine tuberose absolute and daring black leather'.

The body lotion is presented in a tall, sleek tube which has a black and silver design. It features a flip top lid for easy dispensing.

      ~Price and Availability~

At the moment, this collection is not available to buy directly from Avon but it is often re-released. The 150ml bottle lotion can currently be bought from eBay priced from 99p.

      ~My Thoughts~

I received this body lotion as part of a gift set last year. The matching products all carry the same scent but in different strengths. The body lotion is beautifully presented and definitely doesn't look out of place when sat next to the EDT and body spray. It looks very stylish in my opinion.

I wear body lotion on a daily basis and often like wearing lotions which match up with the fragrance. This body lotion is no exception. It is very easy to apply. The lotion itself has a thick, creamy consistency which leaves my skin feeling instantly cooled and soothed. It soaks in quickly and doesn't leave any sticky residue which means I can get dressed quickly after applying it. I have dry, rough skin and found that whilst the body lotion left my skin feeling smooth to the touch, the light moisturisation that it offered was long lasting. It is an incredibly gentle lotion to use though and doesn't cause any irritation to my sensitive skin.

This body lotion is nicely perfumed and the scent is very much like the EDT but less concentrated. The body lotion leaves my skin with a pleasant, light and quite fresh smelling aroma. I can pick up on the berries and a slight sweet aroma which is lovely to wear. I find that the deep leather note doesn't come through as prominent with the body lotion. The scent is noticeable on my skin for a good four hours or so. I find the scent to be light, feminine and perfect for the Summer time.

      ~Conclusion~

I personally favour this body lotion for wearing during the day and topping up with the EDT later on in the afternoon. This allows the overall scent to remain on my skin for a long period of time. Both products (and also the body spray) are very suited to being used together to create a longer lasting scent but are also ideal for wearing alone for a more subtle version of the Outspoken scent.

For 99p on eBay, this is well worth buying as it is lovely to use and comes recommended by myself.

      Thanks for reading :)

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

A lovely soothing body lotion from Avon

I received this body lotion free when I purchased a 50ml bottle of the perfume.

The body lotion smells exactly the same as the perfume, which is a warming feminine scent.

I love this body lotion. It's lovely applied just after a bath or shower when your skin is nice and clean. The body lotion has a nice thick consistency that makes it both easy and pleasant to apply. It's not sticky, nor is it greasy, so you can get dressed as soon as the lotion has absorbed into your skin. The lotion doesn't take long at all to absorb so you won't have to wait around for long in a cold bathroom!

After using this body lotion my skin feels lovely and soft and it smells amazing! The smell really does linger on your skin after use, you can still smell it hours later. I have quite dry skin and this body lotion is perfect for that. It really helps to soothe and moisturise my skin and take away the dry feeling.

A little goes a long way with this body lotion so it will last you a while. The packaging is lovely too, the same packaging as the body spray.

This body lotion is a great way to layer your scent. It's great used alongside the perfume of the same name.

        I would recommend it.

        Disadvantages

A beautifully designed container with disappointing fragrant contents!

The Reason For Purchase ~ 'I admit that: my wife is outspoken, but by whom?" :~)

I love to wear perfumed body lotions and when I seen this in the brochure my local Avon rep left me, I was instantly drawn to the classy appearance of the container! I generally avoid celebrity endorsed products as I controversially feel that if a product needs that much influence to sell, it may be wanting in quality. Of course, in many instances, this is not the case. But, on occasion, there have been some pretty awful products sold on the back of 'starlet' advocacy! The brochure also advertised the Outspoken by Fergie (singer with The Black Eyed Peas) Eau de Parfum Spray, which had a fragrance tester section on the page. I sampled the scent and loved the fruity floral notes that are very apparent in the aroma. The perfume is currently on offer for £15.00. I generally prefer to try out a body lotion or a body spray in the ranges before deciding on the more expensive perfumes, hence why I chose the body lotion.

The Product ~ "I'm pretty loud and outspoken-but so often subtlety, the quiet voice, actually communicates."

The design of the body lotion is beautiful. The wording on the front of the black shiny plastic tube is written in ornate Edwardian Script with ornamental, elegant silver fine sketching of flora surrounding the name of the fragrance. This 150ml container's reverse first incorporates the rather descriptive commentary 'Experience the sexy scent Outspoken by Fergie with this body lotion infused with the scent of iced berry, ultra feminine floras and racy black leather'. Well, at my age, it looks like I was in for a treat with this infusion of aromatic delights! :~) The fragrance is apparently aimed at 'strong and courageous women who are full of self-esteem and understanding'...but I'm sure it includes folk like me too! :D The message is then repeated in several languages, followed by the ingredient's list, Company address and symbols. This lotion has a twelve month shelf life. So, does this extravagant looking body lotion live up to its hype?

My Usage Experience ~ 'To be outspoken is easy when you do not wait to speak the complete truth'!

        1) When I first received the lotion, I eagerly flicked open the lid, squeezed out a twenty pence sized portion onto my lower arm. Be warned, the initial feeling upon application is an uncomfortably cool sense which last around five minutes as it settles into the skin. The pure white fluid lotion spreads very easily over the whole area, a little goes along way!

        2) I didn't even need to raise my arm towards my nose to detect the bouquet. The essence emanates very well. The aroma exudes an exotic combination of spicy notes with lighter floral hearts. As for the Top notes of 'iced berry' well, frozen is more like with the excessively cold primary feel! The scent of black currant and tuberose are easily evident. Within fifteen minutes I begin to perceive jasmine and passionflower, a definite leather undertone is apparent too. After a while, the balmy sweet smelling lotion settles down to the base nuances of saffron and jasmine but still with an undercurrent of spicy aromas such as ebony wood.

        3) I very much prefer the resulting base notes than the initial Top and Middle Notes, which, although stimulating, are a little too overpowering on the senses. Despite the wonderfully combined aromatic inclusions of floral with passionate spicy notes, this lotion finally emerges into a rather mediocre scent for me. I would rate the lotion as 4/5 for the beautifully silky smoothing effects that last throughout the day, but the fragrance is a 3/5 due to its less than exciting scent after an hour's application.

        4) As a moisturizing lotion, I feel that the product rates higher. The resulting delicate effects on my skin feels gentle with a very pleasant silky smoothness. Although I wouldn't describe the sense as lustrous, the lotion has an agreeable satin like feel that continues throughout a good part of the day. I prefer to apply the lotion after showering to increase its moisturizing effects.

Would I recommend? ~ "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt." {Abraham Lincoln :~)

Yes and No! Yes, because there is no doubt in my mind that this is a quality moisturizing lotion that leaves my skin feeling beautifully soft and velvety. But, I feel that the fragrance of the lotion is an acquired taste; although the after effects are less noticeable than first applying, it tends to dull into an average scent. Nevertheless, a fairly inoffensive lotion that, if on offer, is an adequate solution to dry skin with a moderate aroma! I've gone for 4/5 as middle ground in my rating of this body lotion.

The lotion can be purchased via your local Avon representative and online. The Avon website, http://avonshop.co.uk/, is currently selling the Outspoken by Fergie Body Lotion for £4.25, but they are also offering the Outspoken by Fergie Eau de Parfum Spray to be bought in which the customer can choose either the body lotion or spray free!

Thank you for taking the time to read my nreview xXx

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          A real gem from Avon

I received a bottle of Outspoken body lotion alongside the Outspoken perfume that I received for my birthday last year. I own a lot of body lotions and tend to alternate them rather than wearing the same one every day, but I do try to apply this one on days when I am wearing the matching fragrance.

The body lotion is presented in a black tube which stands on a flip top cap. The tube is decorated with deep purple and silver and has a slightly gothic look to it, which is in keeping with the look of the perfume bottle.

The following is taken from the back of the tube: 'Experience the sexy scent Outspoken by Fergie with this body lotion infused with the scent of iced berry, ultra-feminine florals and racy black leather'. The Fergie, they refer to is of course Fergie from band The Black Eyed Peas, as this is one of the celebrity ranges of fragrances that Avon bring out from time to time.

The body lotion is a shiny white cream and is very light. I wouldn't necessarily call it runny, but it is a very thin consistency and spreads out easily across the skin, meaning that only a small quantity is required per use. I find that it is easy to rub in and feels very light, which for me, makes it perfect for the summer months, as I hate wearing heavy lotions and body butters during the warm weather.

The smell of the lotion is beautiful and smells very similar to the perfume, although to be honest I feel there is something about the body lotion that is actually nicer than the perfume itself.

The lotion has a very feminine and sensual scent to it, a rather deep luxurious fruity-floral combination, which is surprisingly sophisticated.

The scent is fairly strong and it is a product I find I can smell I'm wearing once it's on my skin, but it is not overpowering at all.

The thing I have been most impressed with about the cream is how it leaves my skin feeling. For a start there is no greasy or sticky residue after application as it sinks in really quickly. There's nothing worse than getting dressed and finding your clothes are sticking to you because your body lotion hasn't absorbed properly!

My skin feels absolutely gorgeous after applying this lotion, it is incredibly soft and smooth and even looks better too. I even find that my skin looks better after using this - it appears brighter and just generally healthier. Any dry patches are moisturised and the effects tend to last for the entire day.

The usual price for this body lotion is £4.25 but it is often on special offer. I feel that it is worth the money, as the 150ml tube really lasts because just a small amount is required per use. You can buy this from your local Avon representative or online at www.avonshop.co.uk

Overall I am very impressed with this body lotion and it's one I would recommend. It leaves skin looking and feeling smooth, smells great and won't break the bank. I can't really think of any downsides to the product so it gets a full five stars from me!

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            One I would use again

For Christmas I was bought the perfume Outspoken by Fergie, the bottle of perfume came with 2 free gifts one of which was a tube of body lotion. I didn't actually know that you could buy the Outspoken Fragrance by Fergie in the form of a body lotion as I had only ever seen the perfume for sale, but as I love the smell of this perfume I was sure that the body lotion would be just as good.

            Packaging
The packaging of the body lotion is designed to be in keeping with the theme of the perfume, the lotion comes in a very shiny black tube which has a black plastic flip lid on the end of it, this shuts securely by clipping it in place. On the front of the tube is a silver swirly type pattern, in the centre of this is a dark purple rectangle shape outlined in silver with the words "Outspoken by Fergie" written in the middle of it, again in silver writing, above the rectangle is a small dark purple crest. Towards the bottom of the tube are the words "Body lotion, lait parfume pour le corps" this is also written in the same silver swirly writing as the name of the lotion. That is the only information on the front of the tube but the swirly pattern really does make the appearance of the tube quite pretty to have standing out in the bedroom. The back of the bottle is a bit of a shock when you first turn it over it is totally covered in tiny silver writing which on the shiny black background of the tube isn't the easiest to read. However after closer inspection I discovered that the writing was actually one small sentence about the lotion but repeated in 13 different languages. Right at the bottom of the tube are the ingredients and volume of the tube, again all this information is written in the same small silver writing.

            The Lotion
The body lotion is described as a combination of iced berry, floral fragrances and black leather. Personally I can detect a hint of berry in the fragrance, but I would say that the smell of the lotion is quite floral. I can also detect a musk type fragrance mixed in with it as well. The fragrance when smelt inside the tube is quite strong, however once applied to the skin it is much milder and more subtle, it is in no way overpowering once rubbed into the skin. The lotion is pure white in colour and is of a reasonably runny consistency, but not so much that it runs straight off of your skin. I applied a small amount of the lotion to my arms to start with as I do get dry skin on my elbows. I was first impressed by the fact that the body lotion was not greasy at all, as I rubbed into my skin I also noticed how quickly it was absorbed, it left my skin feeling cool, fresh and thoroughly moisturised. There was no greasy residue left on my skin, I was just left with very soft skin. The fragrance as I have mentioned was very subtle once the lotion had been absorbed, it left my skin with a fresh clean smell to it, this did stay with me for quite some time and did not fade as with some other lotions I have tried in the past.

I only needed to use a very small amount of the body lotion at a time, I found on small blob would spread over quite a large area, this means that the lotion will be very economical and long lasting, the tube I have is 150ml and I expect this will last me quite a long while. I have used the Fergie body lotion as a hand cream a few times and it has been very successful, my hands do get quite dry in the winter and after applying just a small amount of the lotion to them, they felt a lot smoother and softer. I have found this lotion to be very useful at work, as it absorbs so quickly it means that I can apply the lotion when working and carry on with what I was doing without covering everything in greasy lotion which has not absorbed into my skin. As I work in an office it is quite important to use a lotion which is not going to cover my paperwork in greasy finger prints and Fergie Outspoken body lotion is perfect for this.

            Price
My Fergie Outspoken body Lotion was a present and came as part of a set, the Fergie range is from Avon , the actual set I received which contains the perfume, body lotion and body spray was £14.00 but is currently on sale for about £8.00 for all 3 items. I did notice that the body lotion could be bought on its own from sites such as E bay and Amazon.

Overall I would definitely recommend the Fergie Outspoken body lotion, it is fast absorbing leaving you skin extremely soft and smells lovely, the fragrance is not overpowering and stays with you for quite some time. Overall it's a nice lotion.
