Advantages: Is rich and feels good when rubbing in. Softens skin.

Disadvantages: The 50ml tube is not big enough.

I recently received this Avon product as part of a gift from a pal which also included the Exfoliating Body scrub in the same range. The items were not gift wrapped so I'm not sure if they were available to buy as single products or came in a gift set. The product is not currently available to purchase on the website so I can not find out further information about this. However, the Planet Spa Dea Sea Minerals Nourishing Body Butter I have is a 50ml tube.

This product is contained in a malleable grey plastic tube. It feels very squidgy and is easy to squeeze the product out despite the thick consistency of the body butter. The tube I have is printed with the full ingredients although mine unfortunately seems to be entirely in the Russian language. The only English is on the front on the tube where the product description is given!

The tube has a flimsy flip lid which clicks into a large dispensing hole. It's easy to squeeze out the body butter despite the fact that this is a very thick and stodgy cream. When the body butter is dispensed it comes out like a shaped worm and holds this shape until you rub it into your skin.

The body butter is white in colour with a slightly waxy sheen to it. It's similar to most body butters in that it's texture is dense and creamy just like dairy butter. It's relatively easy to rub this into skin but because it is quite thick a small amount tends only to cover a small area of skin.

The body butter has a very nice fragrance which combines notes of lavender and hints of raw sea salt and mineral rich seaweed. It's an intoxicating, feminine fragrance which makes me feel new and fresh and as though I've really treated my skin with exotic, expensive scents.

The product sinks into skin quickly and doesn't stay too wet on the skin so if you want you can get dressed immediately after application. The body butter has the effect of making my skin feel like a soft moss - really soft and delicate. It's especially effective on drier areas such as the back of the hands, elbows, knees and feet. I do not feel this body butter is meant for use above the chest.

The only problem I have with this product is that a 50ml tube is nowhere near a big enough package for a body butter product. It has meant that I'm consciously using this sparingly whereas with other body butters I've used I tend to enjoy smothering them all over in quite copious amounts. I also have the 150ml sized Dead Sea Minerals Exfoliating Body Scrub and I think this would be a more appropriate size for the product. If you can buy this in the largest quantity available.

Otherwise, the quality of the body butter is good. It's perhaps not as much as a pampering experience as some of the richer and oilier body butters I've used before but it's still very effective and pleasing to use. I would certainly buy this again if I could get a bigger tube of it. Apparantly there are larger 200ml tubs of this available.

Summary: Good body butter that softens skin well.
