Advantages: Smells nice, packaging is good

Disadvantages: Small bottle, doesn't exfoliate too well

As I mentioned in a couple of previous reviews, I got a set of three Avon body scrubs for Christmas. I have already used the first two - crushed grape seed and brown sugar, and am now using the third one, Japanese Sake. My thoughts on the first two that they were pleasant and worked well, but there was nothing too special about either of them.

This scrub comes in a clear plastic bottle with flip top lid and a subtle white circular design on the bottle. If you didn't look too close you probably wouldn't realise it's from a cheap brand as it manages to look like something you'd find in a spa.

The colour of the scrub is amazing. Initially it just looks like it is a boring beige colour, but when you actually look closer you can see it has this very unusual pearlescent rainbow effect running through it. I thought at first this was the plastic on the bottle, but was amazed to find it comes from the product itself.

I must admit I don't know what Sake smells like, but I know it's rice wine and this does have a sort of rice smell. It's hard to describe, but this smells slightly sweet, and a little bit like rice-flower. It's a very delicate, inoffensive scent and is really quite pleasant.

As this product is a body scrub and cleanser in one there is no need to use a separate shower gel with it, which is a bonus. Unfortunately I found that when using it, the grains seemed to be very few and far between so it didn't really feel like it was exfoliating my skin at all.

I found that after use this left my skin feeling soft without being dried out, but areas which are especially dry such as the knees and ankles were not really exfoliated effectively and I think would need a stronger scrub. Also, the lovely scent did not really stay on my skin which was a bit disappointing.

A 150ml bottle of this costs around £5 from Avon. It is not currently listed on their website but I find things seem to go in and out of stock all the time with Avon, and Avon products seem widely available through Ebay.

Overall I thought this had a nice smell and although it left my skin feeling soft, it didn't really exfoliate too well, and isn't great for people who have particularly dry skin, so I would not buy it again.

Summary: Not for me
