Advantages: Temporarily makes my skin look healthier due to the polishing action

Disadvantages: It isn't an exfoliator so don't be fooled by the polisher tag

I usually use Avon Planet Spa Shea Butter body scrub but I bought this at the same time and have finally got around to trying it out. This differs somewhat to the body scrub (aside from the ingredients of rice and sake) as it is a 'body polisher' and body wash combined and is presumably not meant to exfoliate to quite the same standard as a result of this.

***The Product***
One of the first things that I noticed about the body polisher was a shimmery purple glow to the light brown colour of the body polisher. At first, I wasn't sure if this was something to do with the packaging but after tipping a bit into the lid I decided that it was actually the body polisher itself. Once you tip it into your hand or onto a sponge or similar, the colour is a lighter shade of brown than the Shea Butter body scrub , albeit with the purple shimmer that I've already hinted at. In terms of consistency, it has very small exfoliating granules which are probably about the same size as sugar granules (as in the Shea Butter body scrub) but they are quite difficult to see especially with the purple shimmer that the body polisher has. There is the odd fleck of darker brown, which I'm presuming to be the rice ingredient. Smell-wise, it has a ricey kind of smell.

***The Packaging***
As with many of the Planet Spa products, the bottle is transparent so you can see exactly how much you have left at any given time. The lid is one of those that flips up and to get the product out, you simply need to tip the bottle upside down and give the bottle a light squeeze to encourage it to tip out. If you're using it for the first time, you'll need to take off the lid by unscrewing it and removing the silver foil that will be covering the neck of the bottle. This can be very challenging to do if you're in the bath or shower, so you may want to do this before you get in to avoid problems.

***The Results***
As this is a body polisher and not a body scrub, don't expect it to be the same in terms of results. It doesn't get rid of really flaky skin (which I have on my arms and legs), but then I wouldn't expect it to. It foams up due to the body wash element and basically acts as a body wash with a slight exfoliating action.

***The Price***
Rather than going through an Avon rep, I bought my bottle through the Avon website while I was stocking up on the Shea Butter body scrub. Online, it cost me around £3.50, although that may have been part of a promotion seeing as I bought both at the same time. Either way, I remember it being considerably cheaper than the body scrub (which cost around £6).

***Overall Verdict***
If you're looking for a full-on exfoliator, this isn't the product for you as it's much more of a body wash that has some subtle exfoliating grains mixed in. The end result is a pleasant-smelling body wash that polishes your skin to make it look healthier for a few hours afterwards but it doesn't seem to actually exfoliate much. I'm not particularly bothered about that as I have a separate body scrub to use for that but some people may be slightly fooled by the 'body polisher' tag and mistake it for an exfoliating body wash.

Summary: A body wash and polisher combination

The face mask in this is lovely too but am not sure if Avon still do it!
