Disadvantages: no results

I have always been very pale skinned, and not really tanned very well when I go on holiday, however that changed when I started to use sunbeds and I found myself tanning a lot better when I go on holiday. Sun beds though as much as they maintain my tan, it gets a little bit expensive when you go on a couple of times a week and also its not the best thing for your skin and can be dangerous to you health.

Over the years I have tried quite a few self tan products, some which I have liked, some that I haven't really been much for, so when I noticed in the Avon catalogue that they had bought out a self tan spray, I was quite excited to try it as I normally rate Avon products quite highly and I had used some of the Skin So Soft range and had been quite happy with the results that I had achieved.

The product itself I feel as though comes in rather cheap looking packaging. Its a plastic 150 ml container, a peach pearlescent container which a peach pump nozzle at the top for application to the skin. I think Avon as a rule take pride in the packaging of most of the ranges, however the Skin So Soft range, they don't pay as much attention to and kind of put me off to start with.

When using self tanning products, to get the best results you need to exfoliate before using the actual product. Avon do a Body Scrub within the Senses range which I normally use. Just gently scrub it on using a scrunchy to remove any dead skin cells that you may have on the outer skin, when showering or bathing. This does not need to be done every time, as it can start to remove the colour that you gradually build.

When applying the product, keep the container a couple of inches away from your body before pressing the nozzle to release the spray. The spray comes out clear, however not evenly, so you need to blend it into the skin evenly across you body using clean hands when applying. The product is a gradual build up product so you don't see no instant results when you put it on, which is quite daunting really because if it goes wrong, you don't normally find out until the morning when you have gone orange overnight... trust me... not good if it does go wrong, however this product is for fair skin tones and I honestly didn't think there would be anything to worry about.

THe product should be applied on a daily basis, to get the results that you require, however after a week of using this product, I could really see a great deal of difference, only very slightly and after using the entire contents, I still did not have that tan that I wanted to achieve. I must admit it hadn't gone patchy at all and had blended in pretty evenly but I was still pretty light in colour.

ALthough some self tanning products are more expensive its worthwhile to pay that little extra as with the other branded names you only need to apply them once and you can see the result overnight and a container will normally last a lot longer than what the AVon product does.

THe smell of this product isn't ideal either. It has no actual scent to it, just smells similar to the likes of alcohol or turps which is not very attractive when you have applied it to your whole body. Other products normally have a kind of apricot smell to them.

This product is inexpensive and normally you can obtain it on a buy one get one free which speaks for itself because it would probably take a couple of bottle before you actually start seeing a tan of some sort.

Summary: Disappointing Product from Avon
