Advantages: keeps skin moisturised when used appropriately. Acts well as an insect repellent

Disadvantages: The smell lets the product down ... make it smell nicer Avon

I discovered Avon Skin So Soft, Soft & Fresh Dry Oil Body Spray (what a mouthful) probably a couple of years ago when a friend of my mum's who is an Avon Rep came round with a box of products she was selling for £1. I had a quick spritz of this spray and found that I really like the feel of it once it has settled on the skin. When I selected this bottle, the Rep told me of its insect repelling qualities, which is not a surprise considering the smell. She also told me that she had been told that Avon were actually having supply problems with this product at that time as a huge volume had been purchase by/for the armed forces to help them combat the bugs whilst in combat. I do not know how true that comment is! However, as you may have read, I am regularly back and forth to France to see mum and dad and suffer badly with mozzies. I must have tasty blood!

I have been using the product ever since. Last Sunday while I was thinking about what I might need to pack for my next trip (in 8 more sleeps) I thought about this and found my current bottle in the bathroom. It was running a bit low and as my rep is not due for another couple of weeks and is slightly unreliable I decided to order online (see my review of avon online coming soon). I found a discount code on the net which I used to get free P&P.

The product is currently on offer at £1.75 for a 150ml bottle. My goods arrived today and I have noticed that the packaging has now changed from the old pale blue to an almost pearlesccent white-cream coloured bottle with a green 'SSS' logo on the front and a pump action spray top with a clear plastic lid to ensure no leakage. The label indicates the product is Green Dot compliant (see me review on Alberto Balsam Pomegranate Shampoo for more information on this, or visit www.valpack.co.uk or wikipedia) and is made from recyclable HDPE.

The label also indicates a shelf life of 12 months once opened but mine never lasts this long as I use it so often.

I have just had another spray to remind me of the fragrance and it is certainly a very strange smell and hard to describe and to pinpoint. It is quite chemically but not harsh. Actually, it is like smelling the woods, damp bark. I think that if it was used as a general body spray it would ward off men as well as mozzies! That said, it is not truly unpleasant.

The label suggests to apply after a bath or shower to lock in moisture, which I tend to do when I step out of the shower while I am on holiday. It works well at keep my skin moistured as I am regularly in and out of the pool in France so my skin takes a battering. It also acts as insect repellent very well and I rarely get a bite once I have applied this. It is much much cheaper than Jungle Formula!

Summary: Great Stuff
