Advantages: It was free...

Disadvantages: Smells too strong, hurts cracked skin

I regularly order cosmetics and skin care products from Avon, and when my current order arrived I was pleased to find an unexpected free gift enclosed. It was Skin So Soft Dry Oil Body Spray.

Skin So Soft is Avon's main skin care range and it is divided into sub ranges which all have different aims. Examples of these sub ranges include Soft and Sensual, Signature Silk, Soft and Smooth, Soft and Firm, Soft and Glow, etc. The Dry Oil Body Spray is part of the Soft and Fresh range, which is symbolised by the turquoise coloured Skin So Soft logo on the front of the bottle.

The bottle is white aside from the logo, like all other Skin So Soft products, and looks a bit boring and cheap. It has a pump action top to enable you to spray the product onto your skin. It is opaque so you cannot see how much body spray you have left.

When I sprayed this onto my skin the first thing I noticed was the very strong smell. It is not an unpleasant smell and reminds me of talc or of baby oil or baby lotion. However because it is so strong it was overwhelming even after one squirt of the body spray, and if you had sprayed it all over your body to moisturise and oil yourself after a shower then I imagine you would smell so strongly that people in Australia would notice!

Aside from the strong smell the Dry Oil Body Spray is OK. It is not too sticky or tacky to the touch and it rubs in very easily. I didn't notice much difference to the moisture of my skin though. Also be careful not to use it on even slightly cracked or irritated skin as I made this mistake and it hurt really badly!

The body spray normally costs £5 but is often included within Avon's special offers and is currently available at half price so costs £2.50. Even at this price I think it is too expensive especially as the bottle is a relatively small 150 ml.

As with all Avon products, you can purchase this either from your local Avon representative if you are lucky enough to have one, or from the Avon online shop. However I wouldn't recommend this due to the smell being too strong and it not having any amazing effect on my skin.

Summary: Good if you want a really strong smelling oil spray, but otherwise stay away
