Advantages: Absorbs good; Rubs in well; Gives a nice tanned colour

Disadvantages: None

I never got on very well with Johnsons Holiday Skin but I thought I'd give Avon's Skin So Soft gradual tanner a try anyway because I'd heard good things about it.

I brought the Fair To Medium because I'm quite pale and if it worked I didn't want the results to be too dark.

I had a shower and was careful to exfoliate well then rubbed the body lotion into my skin, ensuring I got an even coverage and that I hadn't missed any bits. The body lotion smells quite nice, it's got a nice creamy smell but you can still detect the slightly metallic smell of self tanning lotion.

It took about 4 applications of it before I noticed any difference in the appearance of the colour of my skin, but once it had started altering the colour it got a bit deeper each day and I was very impressed with the end result. Once I had the tanned look I was after I started using the lotion every 2 days to stop it getting too dark and that keeps it topped up and looking very fresh.

As an actual body lotion this is quite good too and left my skin feeling very soft, supple and moisturised. The lotion has an SPF of 15 and considering it's only £5.00 I think that's very good.

The lotions rubs in nicely and I didn't have any problems with streaking or patchiness once the colour started developing. I thought this gave a much more natural colour than the Holiday Skin I had tried earlier in the year and it actually made me look like I'd got a proper tan instead of something out of a bottle.

I've not got on very with Skin So Soft stuff in the past but was impressed by how well this absorbed and also by the fact that it's not greasy at all and soaks right into my skin instead of just sitting on top of it as the Holiday Skin does.

There is a bit of transfer to clothes but that can't be helped with a product like this and it washes out anyway so nothing to stress about. I noticed it stained my palms a little bit too so make sure you give your hands a soapy wash after you've used it to prevent this.

Summary: A Wicked Self Tanner Than Works Loads Better Than Johnsons
