Advantages: Aids restful sleep.
Disadvantages: None for me.....
I'm sure I'm not alone in that I occasionally have trouble getting to sleep. Some nights I seemed to be tossing and turning for hours, watching the alarm clock on the bedside table, counting the hours down until when I would have to get up! The problem was quite infrequent, so not bad enough to go down the road of sleeping tablets or other pharmaceutical solutions, so I really kind of let it go and put up with the few days of feeling exhausted, like I hadn't had more than a few winks sleep.
I must have mentioned it while my mother in law was around at some point because, when I was opening my Christmas presents, there was a gift from her. A rather nice silver and purple 125 ml pump action canister of Avon Sleeptherapy Pillow Mist! It claimed to be "a soothing fragrance to spray on your sheets before bedtime or refresh your home", with a fragrance that would, apparently, help me drift off to sleep. I was a little sceptical, as you can probably imagine, but decided to give it a try.
==HOW TO USE==
The Pillow Mist can either be used as a spray onto the fabric of your pillowcase or, alternatively, you can spray it into the air to fragrance the room - one or two squirts towards the corners of your room to allow the scent to drift around. I use it purely as a pillow spray, but you can use it on any fabric because it doesn't stain. To spray on your pillow just hold the can a short distance from the fabric and spray lightly two or three times. Let the spray dry on the pillow before you lie down to sleep and it's all systems go!
==WHAT DID I THINK?==
Well...I love the stuff and it seems to work for me. So much so that I've ordered another couple of cans from my Avon representative at work. It's the best time to do it as well because, at the moment, they are on a special offer for £2.00 each, rather than the usual £4.00 - bargain! I have also seen them for sale on ebay (new in the box), which is usually a cheaper option, although at the moment, with postage and packing all the ones I saw were more expensive than the current offer price. You can get them via the Avon website too (URL shown below) and the offer is currently in effect there as well.
I found the scent to be really soothing and not at all overpowering. It is a gentle combination of lavender and chamomile; both of which are equally noticeable and blend nicely together. The scent lingers well too, lasting all night on the pillow and there is also still a soft hint of the mist the morning after when you wake up. My husband generally moans if I use any "smelly" things like this because he says they make him sneeze and STOP him from sleeping. He hasn't moaned about the pillow spray at all...and another bonus is that he hasn't snored so much since I've been inadvertently ;) catching his pillow while I've been spraying mine! I presume the soothing scents must be clearing his nasal passages as well as helping me drift into the land of nod.
I don't know whether the effect is purely psychological or whether the spray actually is helping me sleep. But...whatever the cause, the effect is good! I certainly do drop off to sleep quicker when I have used the product than I do when I haven't. So, whatever is making this happen I am pleased that it is. I prefer to put it down to the pillow mist and I will continue to use it for the foreseeable future.
