Advantages: Smells delicious!

Disadvantages: -----------------------

Lush is my favourite shop for bath-time treats. In fact I no longer use any other make of products in my bath as the products are fantastic. They are hand-made using only the best ingredients (including fruit, vegetables, essential oils and safe synthetics). None of their products are tested on animals and the ingredients used in the products are only bought from companies that do not test on animals. All of the products are vegetarian and many are also vegan. As little packaging and preservatives as possible are used. For all of these reasons, I find Lush a very ethical company with fantastic products.

Bathos is part of Lush's Bubble Bar range. These are basically solid bubble baths. The bar is crumbled under running water and it creates bubbles. In soft water areas, these bars create lots of bubbles. They don't create as many bubbles in hard water areas but they still create a lot. Each bar can be broken into bits and used over a few baths to save money. I have found that the smaller the pieces are, the more bubbles are created (so crumble it well!). However, the less of the bar you use, the less scent you will get. With Bathos I usually use the whole bar as this means the bath smells nice and strong and you can smell it on your skin for hours afterwards. However, if I am short on money I use the bar for two baths.

According to lush, the name Bathos comes from the Greek word Pathos, meaning sorrow or tragedy. This bubble bar is good at combatting the feeling of sorrow. Lush say, "Have a bath with Bathos when you feel you need to shut out the world and pamper yourself."

This bubble bar is a lovely purple colour with a letter B embossed on the top with green glitter. It contains Violet Leaf Absolute, Rose Absolute (which is used to treat sadness, depression and grief), Jasmine Absolute, Ylang Ylang Oil (used to help with relaxation), Bergamot Oil (comforting) and Clove Bud Oil. These make the bubble bar smell exactly like Parma Violet Sweets. The smell is absolutely gorgeous and relaxing. The bathwater goes a lovely purple colour with fluffy white bubbles on top.

This is an excellent choice for before bed as it is so relaxing. It has no cocoa butter in it (unlike other bars like Creamy Candy) so it is not overly softening on your skin. I sometimes like to use half of a Bathos and a Butterball Bath Ballistic (from the same company) to make my skin lovely and soft and smell delicious.

Summary: This bar can be bought for £2.35 in all lush shops and at www.lush.co.uk
