I'm a fan of Benefit products, not a huge fan anymore as they seem to have discontinued a lot of my favourite products, and replaced them with products which just don't seem to work as well and definitely seem to be vastly overpriced. I love (or maybe I should say loved) the Benefit Bathina range, however all of the products in the range have been discontinued over the years, and the only product which they sell now is ''take a picture... it lasts longer...'' This has to win the award for the weirdest product name ever!
''take a picture... it lasts longer...'' is a silky glimmering body balm. It comes in a flat rectangular tin which is very beautifully designed in a retro kind of way. Inside the tin you get a smaller rectangular tin which contains the silky pink body balm, and a pink velvet puff with which to apply the balm. The balm itself is a very solid balm similar in consistency to a body butter, and the little velvet puff is so super soft and even has a little red ribbon handle that makes it easier to hold the puff and to apply the body balm.
This looks absolutely gorgeous on my very pale freckly skin, as it just leaves a very subtle pinkish glimmer, it gives my skin a gorgeous and healthy shimmering glow. Although it appears to be very pink it does actually go on with quite a sheer finish, it leaves a seductive glimmering sheen rather than a shine. I use this mainly on my shoulders, arms, cleavage and legs. I think that it's the perfect tone for fair skin, I'm not too sure how well this would work on very tanned skin though as it's very pink.
Although the body balm is really silky and smooth it isn't hugely moisturising, and so I find that it works best if I apply a light body lotion first before using the balm. I then find that the balm goes on much more smoothly and evenly, and I find that it glimmers even more on my skin this way. This is easy to apply, I just stroke the velvet puff along the balm to pick up a small amount of the balm, I then apply the balm to my skin in vertical strokes with the puff, then using the puff I will buff the balm into my skin in a circular motion to massage it all in completely.
The body balm smells like all of the other Bathina products did, it has a lovely subtle floral fragrance. The fragrance in the body balm doesn't really linger on my skin after I've applied it, but I quite like that it doesn't as this way it won't clash with my perfume and any other body products.
I guess that my only gripe with the body balm is that it can rub off onto your clothes and leave behind a pink shimmery patch. It does wash out of your clothes though if it does happen to get on them, as long as you add some Vanish to the wash.
I do actually really like this body balm, and providing that Benefit don't discontinue it then I would definitely buy another once mine is finished. I bought mine earlier this year from Sephora in the US and paid $28.00, it is available from Benefit counters here in the UK for £22.50.
