“ Brand: Biotherm / Spray / Type: Body Lotion / Subcategory: Mist „
I recently acquired three quarters of a bottle of Biotherm's Eau Vitaminee Refreshing Fragrance Mist (I say acquired as my friend works in a beauty salon and gets to bring home old products or tester products that are no longer needed... bargain)! This is a product that her salon have been stocking for quite a while now, they're big fans of the Biotherm brand, but this one hasn't been selling that well recently so they've decided to remove it from their order with the brand. Biotherm is actually owned by the umbrella company L'Oreal which is a massive name in the beauty and hair care world. However the Biotherm sub brand is a little more exclusive in terms of both cost and philosophy; it's been around since 1952 and advertises itself as being inspired by the power of the earth's living waters. Apparently, by focusing on these living waters they can produce products that work in affinity with your skin. The waters contain lots of microorganisms, plankton and algae which are said to be very influential in the world of beauty and skin care (although I must admit I don't like the idea of rubbing pond water extracts over my face and body really)!
The product comes in a clear box which is looks quite modern and some silver writing naming both the brand and product itself. Inside the box is a clear glass bottle, which is tinted a yellow colour by the liquid contents within it. The bottle has the same white flowery pattern on it, associated with the brand, and is topped by a silver lid. Personally I think that the packaging looks a little old fashioned, granted it is an expensive brand yet the packaging does not overly reflect this in my opinion. The Eau Vitaminee Refreshing Fragrance Mist is exactly what the name states (in an overly complex sounding way, as is common with these "exclusive" brands), it's basically a body spray that aims to refresh your skin and contains vitamins (simple really)! The liquid is dispensed using a typical silver dispenser which requires you to push down to release a spritz of the spray. The scent is very citrusy, with strong hints of both grapefruit and orange in my opinion. It's a very pleasant smell, but one that I would associate more with a linen or room spray rather than a body spray. It's a very fresh and lively scent that is quite subtle in that it's not overpowering.
The spray settles easily on my skin and I tend to rub it in very gently, it's absorbed into my skin almost immediately to leave it feeling very soft and smooth with a very slight oily glaze to it. It is advertised as containing vitamin E which helps explain the hydrated and softened feeling of my skin after application. The scent lingers on my skin for a couple of hours and the soft feeling remains for longer than this which is nice. Despite the fairly pleasant smell and the condition it leaves my skin in, I probably won't be replacing my bottle of Biotherm's Eau Vitaminee Refreshing Fragrance Mist when it runs out. Personally I prefer to use a body moisturiser and either body spray or perfume during the day, rather than this fragrance mist. Plus there's the rather hefty price tag that's attached to it (forgetting the fact it leaves me smelling slightly like a bowl of pot pourri)! It currently retails at £24.51 for a 100ml bottle at Boots and can be found for slightly less on various websites. There are far cheaper and nicer smelling products out there that I'll be replacing this with, however if it was ever offered to me again, who am I turn down a freebie?!
Thanks for reading.
WHAT IS IT?
A limited edition body mist from Biotherm.
IS IT ANY GOOD?
I have used the normal and the limited edition versions of the Biotherm Eau Vitaminee and like them both, but this limited edition bottle is just a little better and the one I prefer overall.
It has a feminine fresh fragrance that would suit any woman of any age. Biotherm suggest you use it after a bath or shower and I agree with that as this is the time when you skin is most receptive to products that will help the tone or otherwise benefit your skin.
This body mist is supposed to tone and invigorate your skin and I think it does slightly, but these effects are definitely not as obvious as if you've used a toning body lotion. My skin feels a little bit tighter after I've used the mist, but more importantly it makes me feel very fresh and refreshed in the warm weather. I spray it through the day, mainly along my back and my legs as that's where I get the hottest when the sun is out.
The smell is floral and a little bit like baby powder, it's not one a man would want to wear usually but my husband likes it when I wear it because he thinks it's sexy, which it is. The complaint I have is that the fragrance of the mist does not match the ingredients given by biotherm and that can confuse some people who are not familiar with the brand if they go by the notes on the Biotherm website alone. I wish it was more moisturising on my skin but it's not drying so that's not a problem, if it was more moisturising I could cut back on my body lotion.
I think this bottle of body mist costs about £15 and because the bottle lasts for a long time that makes it better value for money than you'd first think.
~A classy body spritz from Biotherm~
The Eau Vitaminee limited edition mist that I am reviewing here, is similar to the standard Eau Vitaminee product with the addition of a slightly prettier and enhanced product bottle, which makes the body spritz look a little more attractive on a dressing table or when giving it as a gift. There is a very slight reduction in the price of the limited edition body mist fragrance which makes it a better buy over all, although this is no more than a few pennies I feel this version of the product is better presented which in turn makes the best buy of the 2 products on offer. The Eau Vitaminee limited edition mist is very light and pretty to wear on the skin and it certainly gives you a refreshing boost when you use it after a shower on freshly washed and dried skin. I have found that it can be used on the arms, legs and body to give a lovely all over lightly sprizted effect that is very refreshing and uplifting without ever being overly heavy or over powering.
~Presentation and ease of use~
The simple yet effective design on the glass bottle sets it apart from the non limited edition product making the bottle look summery and relaxing to the eye. The spray applicator works well and delivers a good amount of the fragrance to the skin when used as directed and the light mist effect that greets you when using this is very fresh and fine, which gives a good all over coverage. Biotherm say that the product is an 'exhilarating mist for body and spirit that perfumes, tones and revitalizes with just one touch' and having used the body spritz I feel that they are spot on with their description of it, as it really does liven up your senses and freshen you up after a shower or bath.
According to Biotherm the suggested way to use this body mist product is after a shower or bath which is where I find it gives the best results as it can most easily be absorbed by the skin at that time. Biotherm say it offers an ' invigorating/ toning effect ' to the skin which is something I would agree with. I find that a gentle press on the spray top applicator will release a nice even amount of the fragrance which can be directed as required and for times when I want to top up the fragrance I simply apply it more closely yet lightly to my pulse points, (rather than all over the body) which will give the fragrance a new lease of life for a short time.
~Natural essences combined with spring water~
The body spritz uses a number of 'natural essences' which is totally in keeping with the ethos of the Biotherm range that uses natural ingredients and spring water in its range. The feel of this body spritz is of a light and zingy citrus fruit blend that softens over time as you wear it. The mix of ingredients includes some lovely refreshing fruity scents such as warm sweet orange, softly tangy pink grapefruit, lemony citrus leaf and pretty orange flower which all work in harmony to give a lovely light fresh feel to the product. Biotherm say that the blend of ingredients work to 'create a scent that is fresh, lively and delicately subtle' and having worn and used this product I feel the description is in line with how I feel about it.
As such I have found this body sprtiz to be a very good choice to use as a fragranced body spray that can be worn to help layer and compliment a number of citrus/ bergamot or orange based fragrances without being overly strong and over powering or ruining the effect of the actual fragrance. The spray can be used as an all over body spritz that can be topped up with some of the D&G branded Light Blue EDT fragrance that I find works well with this, which can be applied to the pulse points for a polished feel without engulfing either the Eau Vitaminee or the D&G fragrance. I have found that wearing the 2 products in this way allow you to wear less of the EDT whilst prolonging it's life span on the skin, meaning it wafts softly around for far longer than when wearing it on its own.
Over all I feel that the use of the Eau Vitaminee limited edition body mist has been something I have found enjoyable with the light and fresh scent given off being something that I have found easy to wear at almost any time of the day or early evening. As this is a refreshing and toning product I would not choose to wear it during the late evening or at bed time as I feel it may be the wrong choice for the senses at that time, however as a summer time day wear product this is something that can really help to liven you up after a long tiring day or help to set your mood for a long day ahead by lightening your mood and heightening your senses.
~Price and rating~
Prices for a 100ml sized bottle are just under £25 which may seem like a high price for what is essentially a body spray type product. In this case I feel that you are getting far more than a simple body spray as this really can be worn as a lighter smoother and more subtle alternative to a full blown perfume or EDT product if wanted, with the soft yet invigorating scent given off being enough to be worn as a stand alone scent if wanted. Layering the product with your own choice of citrus scented fragrance will allow the Eau Vitaminee to take on a whole new lease of life and depending on which fragrance you choose to wear it with, you can either compliment it or tone it up or down to suit your mood. As I have found that the product is easy to wear with a very pleasing effect on the senses I want to give it a 4 star product rating.
