      a treat

I'm a big fan of body scrubs, and hearing a lot of good things about Bliss, I decided to give Bliss Hot Salt Scrub a go. It comes in quite a heavy (400 g) pot with a screw-on lid and a foil under it. The instructions on the lid suggest using it on dry skin, and I think that's justified, as the product is a liquid gel, so there is no need for water to be able to smooth it over the body. In my opinion this scrub smells absolutely divine! As you open the lid and scoop the product you sense a strong scent of eucalyptus and sea salt. To me it smells like sea itself! You probably won't like it if you are into sweet sugary flowery scents, as this is a very strong medicinal-type scent, strong enough to clear your blocked nose in winter! :) I also really like the scrub's colour, it is turquoise (as is the colour of the pot), and it also reminds me of sea. As you massage the scrub into your skin it produces a heating sensation, which relaxes the muscles and works to firm skin. It exfoliates very well, and as you work it into skin the sea salt slowly melts, so it rinses off easily and leaves no residue on the skin and no particles in your bath or shower. I would suggest using gloves though, as the scrub has quite a rough texture and you end up exfoliating your palms too much! The scrub leaves my skin noticeably softer and moisturized, and I do not need to apply any moisturizing cream after it. To sum up, every time I use it I feel like I've had a luxury professional treatment, unlike with any drugstore scrubs I've tried.

I think this product is best suited for use in winter, as it has quite a thick texture and also the heating sensation may be too much during the summer. It may help clear blocked nose and throat, and generally revitalize you during the cold months.

It costs more than an average body scrub, but I think it is well worth the price, as it ticks all the boxes and is a great treat. 5 out of 5.

        :)

I've had some bad luck with colds and flu in the last 4 months and I'm currently nursing another episode of what feels like the plague. When I had the flu in January I felt like I was hit by a bus backwards and forwards, my muscles ached and no matter how times I showered I just didn't feel clean. I really wish I would have had this Bliss Hot Salt Scrub with me at the time because it makes such a difference to my well-being.

You can use this on dry or wet skin depending on how much friction you are after but it is recommended that you use it on dry skin to get the best results. Because the scrub is suspended in a thick gel it's easy to work around the body, and it holds its shape as you apply it - so there isn't a runny mess. The sea salt will melt when it gets wet so this rinses very clean and you don't have to worry about scrubby bits that end up clinging in the strangest places (if you know what I mean).
When you first open the lid you are hit with slightly medicinal, yet reassuring scent of the Eucalyptus and Rosemary. I think the Eucalyptus essential oil is pivotal in making this scrub work because it has an amazing antiseptic and sanitising effect on the skin. Since I've been ill I've been working this this into my chest and neck area and with the steam from the shower it feels like a treatment that should be available on the NHS. It really has helped to clear my head and chest plus the warming sensation of the salts gives this a real comfort factor. After using this my skin feels so clean, smooth and free of germs. I've not used body lotion afterwards as I feel like I don't need it but in the winter I probably would just to keep the comfort feeling going.

This would also be great for anyone who does sport or goes to the gym. My only moan and sorry to sound repetitive is this has the dreaded foil lid. Because this has a gel like texture, Bliss probably think it would slosh around while being transported so I will let it go. This is available at Feelunique for £28.60 including delivery.
