Advantages: rich and moisturising body butter, matching products available
Disadvantages: the lingering fragrance becomes too sweet and sickly
Again, I'll just start off by saying that I have a HUGE chocolate addiction; left to my own devices I'd eat chocolate for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and for various snacks in between as well! We go on holiday to the US next month, and I've been trying to eat a little bit healthier in the run up to our holiday, and to cut down on the amount of chocolate that I currently scoff!
I told my mum not to buy me an Easter Egg this year, to choose something non-edible for me instead. She ended up buying me a gift set from The Body Shop, full of their Chocomania products. The Body Shop's Chocomania collection is basically a range of chocolate scented bath and body goodies. The Chocomania gift set that I received contains travel sizes of the body butter, the shower cream, the body scrub and the lip butter. And they are all contained in a reusable, chocolate brown coloured, metal, heart shaped tin.
So the Chocomania body butter is next up. The tub in my gift box is a small travel size tub at 50ml. A quick look on The Body Shop website tells me that a 50ml travel size Chocomania body butter tub retails for £5, and a full size Chocomania body butter tub retails for £13.
The Chocomania body butter is a gorgeous milk chocolate coloured body butter, and it even comes in a chocolate coloured tub too, with a picture of huge chunks of delicious chocolate on the lid. The body butter comes in a tub with a screw off lid, so it's easy to scoop out a small amount with my fingers to apply to my skin. I do only need a small amount of this as a little bit really does go a long way. It's a very thick and rich and creamy body butter, and so I suspect that if I used to much it would give my skin a slightly greasy feel to it. It's very easily absorbed into my skin, it basically just seems to melt into my skin, and it leaves my skin wonderfully soft and smooth and fragranced with the rich chocolatey scent. My skin feels really supple and hydrated all day whenever I use this body butter. The tub states that it's the 'Deluxe Edition', but I think that this just means that it's suitable for very dry skin. My skin is pretty normal, and this body butter is just on the borderline of being rich enough / slightly too rich for me, which is why I'm careful not to use too much of it.
The Chocomania body butter smells absolutely divine, as soon as I open the tub I can smell the intense and rich chocolate fragrance. It is quite an artificial chocolate fragrance, and it is quite a sweet chocolate fragrance, however that didn't initially put me off as it is so obviously chocolate scented! I find that after I've applied the body butter the sweet chocolate fragrance will linger on my skin all day, especially if I've layered it with both the Chocomania shower gel and the body scrub too. However that divine, sweet and chocolatey fragrance doesn't stay divine for too long, especially if you layer the Chocomania products like I've been doing. The fragrance does linger on my skin for quite some time, and it soon becomes quite sickly. In fact it seems to just get sweeter and sicklyer as the day wears on, and depending what perfume I'm wearing it can even overpower that too. I've found that it's actually best not to layer the products, so that the sweet chocolate fragrance isn't quite so intense.
Again, although I've liked this, I've not loved it, due to that lingering chocolate fragrance becoming so sweet and sickly. I'ts not something that I would buy for myself because of this, however if I was given more of it as a gift I'd certainly use it.
Summary: rich and moisturising body butter, slightly too sweet though
