I've tried a fair few hair removal products in my time and I'm definitely all for ripping it out by the roots. However, this is, as you can imagine, never pleasant. So, after several good, bad and ugly experiences with hair removal products, I now regularly use The Body Shop's Sugaring system.
Most people flinch at the mere thought of pouring hot viscous liquid on their skin and I wouldn't force it upon anybody. but if it is your personal choice to have smoother legs for longer, then this product could be for you. Nevertheless it does require some skill to make it more bare-able.

It ressembles something like treacle and smells much like it too - hence the name 'sugaring', doh! A bonus if like me, hair removals creams make you gag!!
Pots are sold seperately from the spatula and reusable sugaring strips so you won't accumulate more of these every time you need more sugaring product. For beginners, a kit containing a 200 ml pot of sugar goo, a 250 ml bottle of aloe vera body lotion, a spatula and sugaring strips is available for £12.50.

This product does need to be heated by placing the product container in a bowl of boiling water. DO NOT splash the water into the product or it will be rendered useless. Also be very careful and test the temperature of the sugar because the product can cause permanent scarring if used when too hot.

The product should be slightly runny so that it spreads easily. If it's too sticky it will tug at hairs as you apply it and cause unecessary suffering. Use a spatula to spread onto skin in direction of hair growth.

I find that running across the skin with the edge of the spatula removes excess sugar to leave a thin film and makes removal more effective.

Another little tip is to keep a plastic bag filled with ice by your side. After the material strip has been applied, rub the bag over the strip. This will cool the
sugar more quickly and ensure that even some of the shortest hairs get trapped in the sugar. This gives a cleaner finish and I also think that it makes it less painful.

For me this product does not achieve perfection ie it still hurts and the hair does grow back eventually, but it is the best around for this price. I'm still searching for the ultimate hair removal product and when I do I'll spread the word like hot wax on bare skin!!
