Advantages: Essential for those like kippers on toast.

Disadvantages: Expensive if you're a roving bohemian.

Lush is a company that does not test any of their ingredients or finished products on animals. All of their products are suitable for vegetarians. This soap is particularly aimed at washing bohemians.

Nowadays a bohemian is generally considered to be someone who eats muesli and doesn't wear socks.

A true bohemian though is someone like myself who leads an untraditional lifestyle and is considered to be a marginalized and impoverished artistic type who lives in a large European city. A true bohemian is someone who is regarded as antiestablishmentarianist and is associated with unorthodox political or social viewpoints. These are often expressed through non-marital sexual relations, frugal living and dressing in an eccentric manner. Being a bohemian myself and a highly creative innovative thinker (as it says on my CV), this is a Lush product obviously aimed at sophisticated complex guys like me.

Bohemian soap is described on the website as "mind-clearing (& spot-clearing) lemon one". I will point out here that I no longer have spots. It is also said to be aimed at those with "a creative streak to help them to realise their masterworks".

It contains lemon oil that is supposed to help clear and refresh the mind first thing in the morning. The lemon oils should help cleanse and tone your skin. I must admit it does produce a refreshing fragrance in the shower and is especially uplifting in the morning after a night on the gin and tonic. The lemon smell is subtle rather than overpowering, but the soap is highly effective. If you've just had kippers on toast for breakfast, I recommend that you use this soap to get rid of any lingering fishy finger after effects. Or even if you don't like kippers but do have fishy fingers, you can still use this soap to freshen up your paws.

This Lush soap is not too creamy and seems to last longer than many of the other Lush soaps I've used (although being a bohemian I'm far from being a Lush connoisseur). Its fresh and natural ingredients include glycerine, rapeseed oil, sunflower oil, coconut oil and sodium chloride. The soap has a gentle lingering effect on the skin.

Since using this soap, or should I say whilst using this soap I have to admit that it did not solve my writers block nor did I produce any major works of art. The cubist reproduction that I've been working on still remains unfinished and I have countless blank canvases stored in the attack. I think it would be fair to say that Lush to some extent have exaggerated the beneficial effects this soap can have.

On a more serious note I was glad to read recently that Lush products are no longer made with palm oil. Instead they are now made with a palm oil free base. Palm oil production is one of the principle reasons for the vast clearance of tropical rainforests in places such as Borneo for the sake of growing the ubiquitous palm tree that produces the oil. Such destruction is threatening many rare species and the survival of one of our closest relatives: the Orang-Utan. If only more companies would follow this example.

The soap costs £2.60 per 100g - expensive if you're a true bohemian.

Summary: A lemon scented soap for creatvie types
