      Average body butter

I was given a pot of this Mango and Babassu Body Butter a few months ago, and was not too excited to use it, because I had previously encountered a Mango and Babassu Body Scrub from the same range of Boots Amazon Forest products, and had found it to be pretty unpleasant to use. However the body butter is definitely better than the scrub and I have been happy enough with it to finish off the pot.

The butter comes in a round tub made of clear plastic, with a dark green lid, which matches the other products in the same range and therefore allows you to have a matching set in your bathroom if that's your kind of thing. The tub contains 200 ml of butter. The blurb on the top states that the product contains 'softening mango butter and moisturising babassu oil, to help provide long lasting moisture to the skin'. The pot also caters for the insane among us by stating that 'THIS IS NOT FOOD'. Helpful.

Inside the pot you will find a very thick, light yellow butter. It has a similar consistency to the firmer butters from the Body Shop's range, and feels very cool to the touch. It is almost bouncy and slightly rubbery. I find it can be slightly stiff and so a little bit tricky to massage into the skin, but at least it gives you a bit of a workout!

You need to use quite a lot of this butter with each session. A reasonable sized dollop will only do about half a leg (and less if you are a larger lady/gentleman). This means that the pot gets used up quite quickly and so is not amazing value for money.

The effect of the butter is debatable. It feels very nice when you first massage it in, but I have found that sometimes my skin feels a little tight and not quite moisturised enough afterwards and I occasionally have to apply a different moisturiser over the top to help things along a bit. I therefore wouldn't recommend this to people with dry skin.

The one thing that is really great about this moisturiser, though, is the smell. The mango scent is really strong and sweet and refreshing. I love it and always have a quick sniff of the tub before starting to apply the butter. The smell lingers on the skin afterwards as well.

I cannot find this product on the Boots website so unfortunately I cannot provide you with a price for it, though I seem to recall seeing it in store before for around £5. Boots may have discontinued it and if so then I am not really bothered as I don't think I would buy it again, even though I am happy to have tried it.
