Boots Botanic Enriching Body Cream
I find during winter months that my skin gets dry, and I do try to vary the products I use, and Boots Botanic is a range that I find excellent value for money, natural and most of all good on my skin.
Boots Botanic is an own brand product, available from both Boots stores and online at Boots.com, the Botanic range are available all year round
I will say straight away don't be put off by the product by the lack of fancy design, as it's a large 450ml screw top jar, with a green based label on the front which explains the product, and further information on the reverse. All the items within the range are the same design.
The price of the Enriching Body Cream is around £5.50, although there are occasions when the products are on 3 for 2.
The botanic range, contains natural plant extracts and rice bran protein.
The cream is a white cream, it is not as thick as a Body Butter that you would get from the Body Shop, but nor as runny as some sun tan lotions, it's a medium consistency, soft enough to rub in, but firm enough not to lose the cream when you use it.
When I use the cream, I find that it does not sink into my skin straight away and does need a bit of rubbing in, but once absorbed into your skin, it leaves a pleasant smell and leaves the skin knowing that it has been moisturised and hydrated. The cream is non greasy, which for me is a bonus, as once soaked in you can put your clothes on without worrying about the cream soaking through. This is a long lasting cream and certainly keeps my skin moisturised.
I personally feel that this is a Autumn, winter, spring cream, as it has a good level of moisturising and it certainly helps my dry skin, I just feel that it is too heavy for summer.
=Would I recommend=
I would highly recommend this Botanic cream and I have knocked 1 star off for it not soaking into my skin straight away, but for the price, this is excellently priced and certainly holds well against more expensive products.
At this time of the year my skin gets incredibly dry and so I am always on the lookout for a good moisturiser. I don't want much - just a nice smelling cream that absorbs easily and leaves my skin looking healthy and feeling hydrated.
Boots Botanics Enriching Body Cream claimed to do this and more, using plant extracts and rice bran protein which is meant to bind in the moisturiser. The cream is designed to replenish lost moisture and hydrate parched skin for a velvety soft feel.
The body cream comes in a fairly big screw top tub - 450ml - costing around £5.50. It has quite a strong scent to it. It's not unpleasant but sweeter than I would usually go for. My other half thinks it smells like sunscreen.
The cream itself is fairly thin in consistency, and I have dropped more than one bit on the floor when applying. The cream does not absorb particularly quickly, and does take quite a bit of rubbing in. It also leaves my skin looking white where it does not rub in completely. At first I thought I was just using too much, but I have found it is the same with small amounts too. On the plus side it does leave my skin feeling moisturised and hydrated, but the velvety soft feel isn't immediate as I have to wait for all the cream to be absorbed. On the plus side it is non greasy, long lasting and it does leave my skin feeling hydrated all day.
Overall, the cream is moisturising and long lasting, but is slow to absorb and leaves my skin looking white. For this reason I would not use to moisturise my arms or legs in the summer months when I am hoping for a bit more of a glow about them. In my opinion there are much better moisturisers out there for less money. I will continue to use the tub, but I would not purchase again. Only three stars from me.
