This Botanics Softening Body Wash is the last item in my little gift bag I received at Xmas. So far I've been very impressed with the Boots Botanics range so I expected great things from this.

My tube is 50ml and costs £1.99 but you can also buy a 200ml tube for £3.49 exclusively from Boots of course. Like the other products in the range this claims to have plant extracts authenticated by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and advises colours may vary due to natural products. Avoid the eyes of course and rinse well if you manage to get some in there and do not store in direct sunlight.

This body wash has Centella in it which I'd never heard of before but is apparently a herb grown in India and Southern Asia that is supposed to be good for the skin amongst other things.

The product is a creamy beige colour and quite thick. It only takes a small amount on a net to work up incredible amounts of lather so even a small tube is going to last quite a while. I've used my tube many times and still have about a third left.

It smells planty, I know that isn't very descriptive but there's no perfume type smell to speak of, just a fresh herby smell with perhaps a slight undertone of almonds but that's very faint.

The tube is a simple flip lid that can be recycled after use and the larger version looks the same, no hooks for the shower or anything like that. That's fine with me as we don't have anywhere to hang products in the shower so this just stands on the lid.

So does it soften skin? It does indeed. This is very fresh and wakes you up as you use it but at the same time it feels very luxurious on the skin and as I said before lathers up to create lots of bubbles as you use it. Afterwards my skin feels soft and slightly moisturised, I have dry skin so I still need some moisturiser afterwards but anyone with other types of skin would probably find this enough. However the fact it manages to make me feel even slightly moisturised is good as lots of shower products fail to.

The other great thing about this is it can be used by men or women as the scent is so planty and not perfumed or girly, it's very unisex so men can get a bit of softening to their skin too without having to smell girly! The scent hangs around on your skin for a couple of hours after use but it's very subtle and doesn't interfere with perfume.

Any gripes? I can't think of any actually which is unusual for picky little me! It smells nice and fresh, softens and moisturises, lathers up well, lasts a long time and doesn't cost the earth so I can't find anything to complain about!

I'm very impressed with the Botanics range and I know I'll definitely be buying more from it in the future. All the items just do what they claim to and smell great in the process. This is another Botanics item I can thoroughly recommend.

Summary: Highly recommended for men and women.
