“ Brand: Boots / Type: Body Lotion / Subcategory: Butter / What it does: Enricheses „
Hand and body lotion is one of life's essentials that I can't live without. Throughout the years, I have used body and hand lotion or butter from various brands. Body butter is a lovely thing to use during the winter, but as you might have expected, they tend to be a lot more expensive, more so if it's a branded product. So, I rely heavily on body and hand lotions to keep myself moisturised during the harsh, cold winter.
I have used lotions from Dove, Body Shop, Designer lotions that came as an extra in perfume box sets and others. However, whenever I want a cheap and good quality beauty product, Boots tend to top the list.
Boots have this Essential beauty product range, which is basically their value range. The price may be cheap in value, but the quality it delivers is not cheap at all. I bought this Boots Essentials Cocoa Butter & Vitamin E Body Lotion for £1.49 for a 400ml bottle: the bottle is an almost oval shape and is made of transparent plastic.
The lotion itself has quite a soothing fragrance; it's not too strong but at the same time, the smell lingers for a while but it's not technically long-lasting. However, considering the price of this product, it is expected. The consistency of the lotion is pretty good: it's neither too greasy nor watery as you may find with a lot of the cheap lotions. It does get absorbed into the skin quite quickly and keeps the skin moisturised for a considerable amount of time.
Moreover, since my job involves washing my hands frequently, this lotion from Boots seems to belong to my work desk. It certainly is a beauty saviour, especially in terms of keep my hands smooth and soft at work throughout the whole year. I've had this for about 2 months now, and I've used up to 1/3 of the bottle's content; since I mostly use the lotion to moisturise my hands, it lasts longer than a body lotion.
Overall, this cocoa butter & vitamin E body lotion from Boots delivers more than its value and makes a good purchase.
Thank you for reading and reviewing. ☺ xx
I usually use Nivea or Dove moisturisers and thought that I would try using a different body lotion for a change. I decided to try using cocoa butter, as I remembered that my Mum used to use it all the time as her moisturiser, and remembering that she used an own brand version, I popped into Boots to see what they offered. I saw that this cocoa butter also contains vitamin e and the bottle states that it 'softens, smooths and nourishes', and so I thought I would give it a go. I think I paid around £1.40 for it a few weeks ago, which seemed a pretty good price to me, considering it's a 390ml bottle. It's currently £1.49 on the Boots website for a 400ml bottle.
The bottle of the product is colourless and transparent, which I like because it means you get to see the colour of the body lotion, which is a lovely colour that I would probably describe as magnolia. The fact that the bottle is transparent also means that you can see how much lotion you have left. The bottle is opened by lifting the fliptop lid, and the desired amount of lotion is easily squeezed out. The top of the lid is quite large and flat, which is great because the bottle can be stored upside down in order to easily squeeze out any remaining lotion. I packed this body lotion in my suitcase when I went on holiday to Santorini and none of the product leaked from the lid, and so it's suitable to take with you when travelling.
As for the body lotion itself, I think the thing that really makes it stand out from my usual Nivea and Dove moisturisers is that it has a gorgeous smell, that smells to me like vanilla. It is a mild smell that is very noticeable when applying the product, but it isn't overpowering and I can't particularly smell it a while after I've applied it, which I like because I usually wear perfume when I go out anyway. I have found this body lotion has a nice consistency, it isn't runny but it isn't too thick either, it doesn't feel greasy and it is easily and quickly absorbed into my skin. In terms of moisturising properties, I have been applying this product every morning after my shower and I have found that it leaves my skin feeling soft, smooth and nicely moisturised. I sometimes find that the skin on my legs gets quite dry and itchy in the evenings, and so on these occasions I have applied the body lotion and it has helped to stop the irritation and soothe my skin.
I mentioned previously that I took this lotion with me on holiday to Santorini. With Santorini being a Greek island, the sun was very strong and so I needed a product that would look after my skin after I had been out sunbathing. I don't tend to bother with aftersun these days because I always use factor 15 suntan cream and I keep an eye on my skin to make sure that I don't burn and so it is only occasionally that I will burn slightly. Because I make sure that I don't burn, I find that I only need a moisturiser to keep my skin well moisturised after being in the sun all day, rather than an aftersun cream to soothe burnt skin. I found this body lotion worked well to moisturise my skin after being in the sun, and my husband also used it every day and found that it soothed his skin well, some of which was rather red, as he seems incapable of properly applying suntan cream!
I have been using this body lotion every day for a few weeks, sometimes twice a day, and my husband has also used it a great deal, and there is still lots of this product left. I think that the price for the size of the bottle means that it is very good value for money, as this lotion will probably last me for a few months, even with me using it every day. It is nice to use a body lotion with a mild lovely scent too, and it makes a change from the other moisturisers I normally use. I will probably buy this product again when my current bottle runs out and I would certainly recommend it.
