Advantages: Fair trade, not greasy
Disadvantages: Scent doesn't last too long, quite expensive
Since my boyfriend's family has taken to buying me Christmas presents now as well, I seem to have received rather a lot of bath stuff to use up this year. It's great, because it's always going to get used, and it saves me buying anything (other than shampoo) until next Christmas.
One of the things that my boyfriend's mum got me was a set of Mango scented body stuff from Boots, which included this Mango Body Butter. It comes in an orange screw top tub and is a pale orange/yellow in colour. I have to say that I don't tend to buy body butters for myself; however I've noticed recently that my legs are quite rough after a bath or shower, and so I starting using this body butter to soften my skin. I've also found that it's quite soothing after shaving.
I was impressed with the size of the body butter, particularly as in these gift sets you do tend to get much smaller sized products; this one was definitely full size and I can see it lasting me several months. The mango scent wasn't as strong as I'd expected it to be - it's almost like a mango yoghurt than actual mango, and the butter feels smooth and creamy. It's not as thick as I thought it would be either and it rubs in smoothly and easily, without any greasiness.
Mango isn't a scent I would have necessarily picked out for myself as I tend to go for citrus smells or coconut. However, I found this light, refreshing and completely inoffensive. After an hour or so the smell has practically disappeared, although if you use more than me it will probably still around a lot longer.
I found that the body butter was very soothing immediately after shaving, and I did also feel like I was pampering myself so that was an added bonus. I know a screw top tub is typical for body butters, but I would personally prefer a squeezy bottle as I feel less is wasted and it's a bit more hygienic.
After quickly looking online, I can't find the price for the complete gift set, but the Mango body butter is available to buy alone at £7.92 for 200ml, or you can buy it with selected other products as part of a 3 for 2 offer. At this price it is a bit on the expensive side, so I would probably not buy it for myself, but I am happy with the fact that it's fair trade. A body wash is also available in the same range.
Summary: Good gift idea
