“ Brand: Boots / Type: Body Scrub „
I love to use body scrubs and usually Boots make some great Fairtrade scrubs and my favourite one of the moment is the Fairtrade Extracts Coconut Body Scrub. I love the smell of this but at £8 for a tub, it doesn't come cheap but I wait to see if they come on offer and then that's when I usually snap a few up.
Apart from the simply gorgeous fragrance of this luxury body scrub, it is really mild and gentle on my skin whilst having the ability to gently scrub away surface dead skin cells. It moisturises brilliantly, like a dream really, as it contains one of my favourite ingredients - Shea Butter. I love most products that contain Shea Butter as I find that its moisturising qualities are excellent.
I always use this body scrub in the shower and I use gentle small circular motions and apply to everywhere but my face and neck. The exfoliating particles are possibly a little bit too small for anyone who is looking for a more 'intensive' scrub, but for me personally, they are perfect. My skin feels smooth and fresh and really revived whenever I use this scrub and I smell of coconuts all night into the bargain!
One pot of this will usually last me about six weeks as it's not a product I use too frequently. It stores well but using it in the shower can mean that the pot becomes a little bit gloopy and messy over time so I often rinse off the lid from time to time.
Overall, I really cannot fault this body scrub from Boots. It is expensive, but you get a lot for your money and if you are looking for a product that is going to exfoliate as well as moisturise your skin at the same time, then this is the perfect product for you.
Well worth it.
I bought this from boots on a 3 for 2. Usually retailing at £8.00 a tub it's definitely worth waiting for a deal on this one. I have seen these scrubs on deals at boots but not that regular and obviously as this is a boots brand the product is only available from
Boots. Saying that it does seem a popular product and I have seen it in big and smaller branches a like.
I did justify the price tag by taking into account that the product is ethical as it is a fairtrade product. This is it's main selling point and the product is stamped in a few places with the fair trade stamp. This is my first gripe with the product however as when you read the small print you notice that actually the scrub is made up of only 8% fair trade ingredients. Not therefore all that fairtrade I guess then!
My second issue with the marketing of this product is that you are led to believe this is a natural product when actually it is full of bend, oxides and drums! Not that I expect the product to be sugar, spice and all things nice but it would have been nice to see some more natural ingredients in there.
On a more positive note the design of the pot and packaging are quite attractive and infitting with the coconut theme. The plastic of the tub is light to pick up and clear so you can see how much is in the pot pre and post purchase. Also as the scrub is in a pot it is easy to get out every last bit although some product does tend to get clogged up in the screw top lid. The lid is however very secure as long as it's screwed on properly by owner!
I adore the smell of coconut and this product delivers in the smell stakes. The product is a bit difficult to apply however. As the scrub contains Shea butter it is really mild and moisturizing however it is also very slippery and can easily slip off the skin (mine usually ends up on the shower door)! Added to this is the fact that because the product has very small and fine particles I find you have to use a lot to get the desired effect. This also means that the scrub is suitable for lots of skin types but sensitive in particular.
The scrub is good for use on the body and for me does the trick in removing dead skin cells and promoting growth of new ones. Whilst I can't be sure it scientifically does this my skin feels smooth and moisturiser and I find that my tinted moisturiser applies well afterwards with no streaking. I wouldn't recommended for face though as it is too mild. Also for those with acne proud skin or for the serious tanners I would recommend a stronger scrub.
All in all thus scrub rinses well but because of the small particles can stick around in your plughole for a while. The price of it however means that I only really use once a fortnight which is a shame as I would like to exfoliate more often .
