Feeling incredibly brave, I browsed the aisles of Boots the chemist looking for waxing products. Only ever having waxed professionally before at a salon, I was taking a step forward in the beauty treatment department and attempting a home wax. I wasn’t even sure what to look for but knew I wanted to buy Veet as it was a well-known brand and would probably be the best. Well the best it may be but at a price tag of well over my budget at the time I saw no reason why I should squander my money when Boots did their own version for a lot less than Veet. In fact costing me just £4.99 for 36 strips I felt positively confident that this would be a successful ... Read the complete review

I?ve always been a shaver myself. I have used hair removal creams/ sprays/ foams etc. but after a string of fail attempts I always returned to the quick, cheap and easy method of shaving. I decided to try waxing because I basically got fed up with the hassle of shaving. I decided that I would pluck up the courage to try my hand at waxing. I probably should have gone to a salon since I had never been waxed before but instead I went out on a whim, to my local Boots store and scoured the shelves for something a little cheaper that I could try in the privacy of my own home. I wanted something ... Read the complete review

I am a big fan of Boots so I thought I'd try their wax strips. You get a lot of strips compared to other brands (36 to be exact) and they seem good value for money. They are £4.79. They are not reusable though. There are other brands that are reusable and more expensive, but you don't get as many strips. I found the wax strips easy to use and not too painful, the trouble is they didn't remove all the hair - I had to use another strip to get off all the hair. I think part of the problem is the backing the strips are attached to - it is thick paper and doesn't adhere well to the contours of your body. The wax itself is clear and ... These are the best home waxing strips that I have tried. They are nearly as effective as a salon wax, and the results last for 3 or 4 weeks. The big advantage over other makes is that they are single use. Most makes now produce waxing strips which are intended to be reused. In order to get your monies worth compared to these strips you need to reuse each strip several times, which I find impossible. These strips are very simple to use. You just cut them to the desired size, apply to the area, and then whip off quickly! It is painful, there is no getting over that! Try holding your hand on the area immediately afterwards, (they do it in salons), and it ... Read the complete review

I am a confirmed fan of these. ADVANTAGES They come in quite large strips so you can do quite large areas quickly, but you can also cut them up to do smaller areas or really sore bits in manageable sizes. It is really satisfying to see how much hair you have removed, and to know that you have several hair-free weeks. The Boots strips are cheaper than other brands. DISADVANTAGES Some parts of your body are just not designed for this kind of treatment. Personally I could not do my under arms at all, but found my bikini line ok. Once you put the strip on you must be prepared to rip it off quickly. Don't do what a friend on mine did and stop ... Read the complete review
