A great mud for deep cleaning your skin and leaving it soft and smooth

I have been using this Fango Mud on and off for about 10years my use of it depend not really on the products ability to do its job but on my finical circumstances as its not a cheap product. So at times of finical pressure luxuries like this are the first to go in my budget. However my dad recently sent me some up from London for a birthday treat so I thought I would it a review.

      What is it?
Borghese have these things to say about the product it's a "mineral-enriched mud mask is sourced from Tuscany's volcanic hills. It energizes and nourishes skin cells on the face and body. Special absorbing action unclogs pores, eliminates dead skin cells and detoxifies impurities. Skin feels comfortably hydrated, firmer and invigorated."

      What it claims to do
Italian Mud - Provides mineral nourishment and special absorbing action which rids skin of impurities.
Acqua di Vita® Complex - Revitalizes skin, reducing the signs of aging.
Geranium, Lavender and Peppermint Oils - Natural botanicals that stimulate and improve skin tone.
Avocado and Sweet Almond Oils - Moisturize and soften skin.

Depending on which size you buy it either comes in a tube or a jar similar to a posh preserving jar. There is a hinged lid that is sealed with rubber to keep the mud moist and fresh. I have found the jar though more expensive does keep the mud fresher long than the tube.

On opening the jar the smell instantly wafts up to greet you, it is very strong, but not too overpowering. Surprisingly it's not mud that you smell but the essential oils the geranium and peppermint aromas are very apparent and seem to complement each other very well.

It is a thick and dark green in color. It has a fairly smooth texture, with a slight grainy texture, but it doesn't feel at all scratchy when you apply it to your skin.

      How to Use
Apply generously about one quarter inch thick is what the manufacture say to do, now as thrifty Yorkshire woman I don't slather it on that thick but I do a good thick even covering you should avoid lip and eye area I would do this as sometime when I have been a bit splash happy it has made my eyes water a bit even though the product hasn't gone in my eyes.

Leave on for 5 to 10 minutes as with most mud masks one of the best tests is watching it start to crack in the mirror and you know it is ready to take off!

Rinse off thoroughly using sponge or washcloth be prepared for the water to go a yucky color and this part to take a while as it is a bit like sticky glue! If you get it in to your hair line you generally need to wash your hair to get it out I find so if you can hold your hair back with a bobble of Alice band type of thing.

I tend to find that I immediately feel the difference in my skin with this it feels cleaner softer and smoother. There is a chance that your skin will erupt in spots, over the next few days as the impurities are drawn out of your skin so I would make sure you do this treatment 4-5 days before that special event or date. I have received complements on my skin after using this product and tend think it is one of the best treatments around.

This product is not suitable for pregnant women due to the peppermint oil which is contra-indicated in the first 3-4 months of pregnancy.

      How long it lasts
I find that if I am using the jar just on my face and using it lavishly but not a quarter of an inch thick then one jar will last me about a year which I think is not bad value.

      Where from
Now here is the hard part it used to be sold in the house of Fraser department store near me but they stop selling it. I am not sure where in London my dad found this as I had set him a mission to find it, though knowing him he will have search on the web for it!
You can buy it in the UK for www.strawberrynet.com for £39 for the Jar (430ml) or £22.50 for the a 200 ml tube

A great mud for deep cleaning your skin and leaving it soft and smooth but getting hard to find in UK shops
