“ Brand: Boots Botanics / Type: Body Lotion / What it does: Smoothes, „
I was lucky ( yet again ) to be given this product by a friend. Shes not really into her products the same way as I am, so probably thought some of the products shes passed onto me would be more appreciated in my hands.
Ive checked online in regards to the price of this product. Not too sure whether its discontinued or repackaged but couldn't find the cost, but generally speaking the body products in this range cost between £3-5.00.
How is it packaged
It comes in a 250ml plastic bottle with a pump dispenser top. The bottle itself is see through so you can see the lotion in it. Label covers most of the bottle and the colouring is mostly green with a pale cream band around the top. On the top of the label in the left hand corner is says ' Active Plant Extracts' and ' Quenching Body Lotion '. Below this is says that this lotion should provide 12 hours of moisture and it contains honey and Ginseng. Down the side it has the ' Botanics ' logo.
On the back is a brief discription of what the lotion is supposed to do, directions, ingredients and company details.
Aqua, Glycerin, Butylene glycol, PPG-15 stearyl ether, Steareth-21, Caprylic/capric triglyceride, Steareth-2, Cetyl alcohol, Mel, Panax ginseng, Phenoxyethanol, Polyacrylamide, C13-14 isoparaffin, Pathenol, Methylparaben, Sodium benzoate, Parfum, Propylparaben, Citric acid, Laureth-7, Tetrasodium EDTA, Linalool, Benzyl salicylate, Sodium citrate, Hexyl cinnamal, Limonene, Hydroxycitronellal, Citronellol, Silica, Geraniol, BHT, Maltodextrin, Dipropylene glycol, Alpha-isomethyl ionone.
How does it perform?
Firstly, the lotion is white in colour. Quite fluid in texture which did concern me, as I thought it wouldnt be rich enough for me. It soaked in really well and pretty much straight away, and I felt it left a slight sheen to the skin. The fragrance was fresh and quite simple, very delicate and not overpowering at all. It didnt smell floral but going towards the more plant/earthy side with a slight hint of citrus. I didnt feel the fragrance lasted long on the skin, but not a bad thing if your layering other fragrances from other products. I actually thought this lotion would have been a good product for the guys out there. The fragrance isnt girly, it would soak in well due to its light texture on hairy areas such as the legs and its easy to apply.
I was alittle concerned that this lotion would play my Psoriasis up, but it hasnt. Also, because my skin tends to get dry very easily and quickly, I thought I would have to reapply maybe after afew hours which I didnt. It does say on the bottle the lotion can provide 12 hours of moisture. Maybe a tad wishful thinking for my skin, but still performed very well.Even the next day my skin didnt look dehydrated, dry and cracked.
Would I use this again?Yes I would. Easy to apply, sinks in straight away and hydrates.Great to use if Im in a rush. I just wish the fragrance was more interesting.
Following a recent clear out in our house, it was clear that I wouldn't need to buy any body cream or cleansers for quite some time. I had received a few little gift sets containing toiletries for my birthday a couple of months ago, and this, coupled with a large number of bottles of various creams and potions that had been stashed away since last Christmas will no doubt keep me going for a few months to come!
One of the gift sets from last Christmas contained a couple of items from the 'Boots Botanics' range of cosmetics. I have since used and almost finished one of these products which is the 'Quenching Body lotion'.
I will point out that the size of bottle is quite small and is only 75ml. I am unsure if such a small bottle can be purchased in Boots, or if it has only been produced in this size for the purposes of the gift sets. It is also worth noting that the full sized bottle - which is 250ml - has a 'pump' style dispenser in the top of the bottle, which probably makes the product easier to use, in terms of application at least. This larger- sized bottle is exactly as shown in the picture at the top of the Dooyoo page.
Anyway, my little miniature bottle is clear plastic, which allows me to see how much of the product is left. The lid is a 'screw top' design and is silver in colour. Coupled with an olive-coloured label to the front of the bottle, I think that the image of the product gives the impression of being quite natural and the slogan 'The Power of Plants' which is printed just above the 'Botanics' name on the front of the label confirms this image somewhat.
Unscrewing the lid and removing it from the bottle, the first thing that strikes me is the scent. To be fair I don't find it to be over-powering or unpleasant, but I do find it to be quite a strongly perfumed product nonetheless.
The scent of the body lotion is one that I think is quite feminine. I would not say that it is too 'flowery' but there is definitely a plant or flower-like scent coming from the lotion. I also do think that the fragrance is quite sweet, but after reading the back of the label I can see that the product contains honey, so this is perhaps contributing to the slightly sickly and extremely sweet smell.
The body lotion is white in colour and it is evident that the consistency is quite runny... This struck me as being a bit unusual, but of course the product is called a 'Body Lotion' and not a 'Body Cream' so perhaps this is responsible for the slightly runny product?!
The claims on the back of the label state "A Luxurious body moisturiser that works continuously for 12 hours, replenishing moisture even with the driest skins."
In my experience of using the cream, I find that it is very easily absorbed into the skin. There is no 'heavy' feeling after applying, which is not the case with all the other body creams I use regularly. This gives me the impression that my skin can 'breathe' a little better when using the Boots Botanics cream - a large plus point for me!
I do find that my skin is pleasantly softened after using this cream. In particular, problem areas such as my elbows for example, are much softer to the touch, and the appearance of these areas has been improved.
The scent of the cream is quite evident when applying this cream, and I do find that it lasts for quite a long time on my skin. This doesn't bother me personally too much either way, but obviously if you didn't like the fragrance of this body lotion this may put you off a little.
The product does not give any mention of sensitive skin or anything, but I am happy to note that after using it there was no evidence of any aggravation. I have a stubborn eczema patch on my left arm which can be easily irritated but this product moisturised the area nicely with no nasty side-effects!
I did find this body lotion was quite pleasant to use, but I can't honestly say that I am truly converted and will buy it from now on. It offered a nice change from my usual products, and did what it claimed to do - i.e. moisturise my skin!
I didn't notice any HUGE difference to my skin after using this, and found that the results were pretty much the same as what I usually achieve from my run-of-the-mill bargain body lotion.
For this reason, I am only going to award the body lotion three stars... It's ok, but not mind-blowing by any means.
The Boots Botanics quenching body lotion can be purchased in larger Boots stores. You can also purchase it online, from www.boots.com where a 250ml bottle of the lotion will cost you £3.91.
I have never known a cream or lotion that feels like a thick lotion but then when it reachs your skin it melts in and feels like water on the skin. This really is a quenching body lotion as the name suggests.
As i have slightly dry and sensitive skin i feel like i have try and test many creams, lotions and potions; and some are really thick or you have to keep applying them, or the smell is sickly or not enough. This one is great as my skin feels satisfied when this lotion has been applied.
What i have found with this cream is that its perfect for my skin, i understand everybody'sdifferent and i suggest you try it.
I think its expensive at £3.99 but i got it for £0.64 because Boots had reduced it. Its great when boots has a sale as many products are half price or have a 3/4 reduction.
This bottle has a pumping action that supplys just enough for one leg and so forth, i have to reapply 3-4 hours later if needed but i tend to leave it longer.
This poduct has a pleasant fragrance of linen, subtle fruits, fresh air hard to describe but very nice never the less.
I hope this has helped to make it easier to decide.
