For Christmas my fiancé bought me a gift set which included Burberry Body perfume and the matching body milk. I own a lot of body lotions and creams, so this is a product I have chosen only to use occasionally, as since it is quite expensive, it is unlikely that I will be forking out to replace it when it runs out!
The body milk comes in a glass bottle identical to the perfume. I really like the packaging, it looks quite sophisticated close up and the glass is quite weighty which makes it feel expensive. The lid comes off to reveal a gold pump nozzle and I actually think I prefer this to simply pouring the product out. My one concern is that when I reach the end of the bottle, I expect there will be product left in the bottom and since the nozzle is not removable there's a chance I will be left with wastage.
I've had perfume gift sets in the past where the matching product, does not actually appear to match the perfume at all in scent, however thankfully this one does. The scent contains peach, freesia, rose, iris and vanilla amongst other things. These combine to give a deep floral fragrance with a lighter, sweeter twist to it. It smells luxurious, feminine and sophisticated. I think of this as a luxury fragrance and tend to save it for special occasions where possible.
When dispensing this, I find that one press of the pump will only dispense a relatively small amount of product. That said, being a body milk rather than a lotion, the consistency is quite light and a little goes a long way. I find that I need three to four pumps for each arm and probably closer to six to cover each leg.
The lotion rubs in easily and feels light and cooling on the skin. It absorbs really quickly too which I think is a great plus point as I don't have to worry about getting dressed and having my clothes stick to me. There is absolutely no residue left on my skin after using this, but my skin does feel silkier and smoother to the touch. I have also found this to be quite moisturising and despite having eczema this product has not caused any irritations despite the fact it is rather heavily perfumed.
One downside I have found with this body milk is that since the fragrance is quite strong, when layered with the perfume, it can actually be a bit too overwhelming. On the occasions I have worn both the perfume and the body milk together I have felt quite conscious that the fragrance is too strong and I am enveloped almost, by a cloud of scent. I have therefore taken to wearing either one or the other as I feel, for me personally, just one is enough.
This product comes in an 85ml size which retails at £35. It can be purchased directly from Burberry (uk.burberry.com/store) or feelunique.com where it is the cheaper price of £29.75. I did see it in John Lewis at one point although having just checked they no longer have it on their website. If you want to buy the matching perfume at the same time, it seems to work out cheaper to buy this as a gift - the 85ml perfume and body milk gift set is currently £56 at feelunique, which is a saving of £37.50 on buying the products individually.
Overall I really like this body milk, but I feel it should be used as an alternative to the perfume rather than as an addition to it. When worn together the two products create an overpowering scent, but as just a body milk I think this is lovely. I would recommend it for anyone who is a fan of the Burberry Body fragrance, although it seems that buying as part of a gift set is the way to go if you want to get the best value for money.
