Advantages: Very moisturising, 99.68% natural
Disadvantages: smell is quite strong and probably an acquired taste
Being 99.68% natural, the Burt's Bees Carrot Nutritive Body Lotion immediately earns brownie points with me as I love natural products. The lotion comes in a pale yellow bottle which is sadly a little too solid to squeeze and so getting the lotion out can be quite tricky at best. However the packaging is attractive and very natural looking, and importantly, it's made from 90% post-consumer recycled materials.
I actually received a trial size version of this lotion in a giftset but a 235ml bottle can be bought on the Burt's Bees website for £9.99. The lotion is a pale mustard like colour and quite gloopy in texture. It's thicker than many lotions I have tried in the past, but fairly uneven and lumpy looking. Nonetheless, in my opinion it smells lovely, but it is a kind of practical lovely and not a glamorous lovely - so it's not something I would choose if I was going on a date or something.
The lotion moisturises fantastically which is a big plus, and soaks in quickly without feeling too greasy. It's enriched with beta-carotene, vitamin E and aloe, all of which are supposed to be fantastic for your skin, and they certainly seem to work.
The big plus with this lotion is that it's so natural and really does moisturise - even very dry skin feels soft and smooth. The fragrance is however quite strong, and while I like it, it might not be for everyone, especially since sometimes it can almost smell play-doh like and other times like carrot cake. I would say it's great for everyday use on your legs or something as it leaves skin so smooth, but I personally would prefer something with a more girly glamorous fragrance. If you're into cocoa butter products you will probably like this as the smell is a similar kind of thing, but if you are more of a Soap and Glory kinda person then the fragrance probably wont be for you.
A little does go a long way with this product, so although it's pricey it would probably last a good while. My trial size has pretty much run out and I haven't bought the full size version, as with an increasing number of natural products appearing on the shelves, I think we have a bit of a choice, and there's probably better smelling ones out there. Nonetheless, a good product, just not particularly sensuous smelling.
Summary: Worth it for very dry skin but probably not one for a date or night out
