Advantages: Soothes your skin
Disadvantages: Smells funny
I first came across Burt's Bees in a supermarket in America and picked up a few things quite cheaply a few years ago, this was one of the products. It does not seem to be that widely available in the UK, but my local independent beauty store sells a 236ml bottle for £9.99. The product is designed to sooth your skin and it has relaxing properties.
The ingredients include, and it is 98.68% naturally derived, so that must be a bonus:
Water, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, glycerin, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, beeswax, stearic acid, palmetic acid, daucus carota sativa (carrot) seed oil, fragrance, tocopheryl acetate, glucose, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) peel wax, sucrose stearate, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf oil, glucose oxidase, lactoperoxidase, beta-carotene, vegetable oil, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, sodium borate, xanthan gum.
The body lotion is definitely a lotion, as it is of quite a thin consistency, so be careful not to pour out too much from the bottle. The lotion is easily absorbed into your skin and sinks in well, it leaves your skin feeling nourished and soft. The product is good to use if you have been in the sun as it contain aloe vera and beta-carotene that are know to be antioxidant and moisturising. You only need a small amount as the product goes a long way and lasts for quite a while with regular use.
The lotion does not smell like other lotions, what you have to remember about Burt's Bees products is that they are naturally derived and made of sometimes non main stream items such as carrots, so although you do not end up smelling like a carrot all day once you have applied the lotion, it does have a distinctive smell to it, which is carroty, sweet and a bit like you have burnt some incense, so it will not be for everyone, probably best used during the day.
Overall I would recommend this to others as it does sooth and moisturise your skin, though I find that it is quite expensive and also the smell is not for everyone, so I think although I will continue to use this product it will not be an everyday thing.
Summary: Interesting product that works well but the scent may put you off
