Burt's Bees Foot Lotion Peppermint
Advantages: works well, lovely minty scent, cooling and great for tired feet
Disadvantages: high price
Before I embarked on my long haul flight to Australia last year,I treated myself to a range of products that I thought would make the travelling more comfortable. When buying I had to keep in mind the size and weight of any purchases as I was limited for space. Like many people I suffer from swollen feet and ankles when I travel by plane ,despite doing lots of foot and leg exercises! Whilst looking for products in my local Boots I came across a foot lotion made by Burt's bees that promised of offer relief from the problem.
Burt's Bees foot lotion comes in a travel convenient 100 ml screw top tube. This is the maximum size you are allowed to take on a plane in your hand luggage. The tube is predominantly yellow and is decorated with peppermint leaves and flowers. It is made using 100 % natural ingredients and is not tested on animals. The lotion contains a range of ingredients including sunflower, wheat germ and coconut oil;all ingredients that are well known moisturisers. Witch hazel ,tea tree oil, Parsley and Rosemary to help prevent foot odour.Tea tree is a mild antiseptic so will help prevent fungal infections such as athletes foot. The lotion also contains peppermint oil and menthol, both of these will help to invigorate tired feet and relieve aching muscles. Peppermint oil can also be used as a mosquito repellent! Peppermint oil can aslo help to reduce headaches and as this lotion smells strongly of peppermint there may be other benefits apart from those felt on my feet! Finally the lotion contains Bees wax to help seal in the benefits .
The cream is quite think and not what I would describe as a lotion at all. It has a strong minty smell that I really love. You really only need a little of the cream as it is quite greasy and takes a while to massage into your feet. I used this several times during my flight and found it really helped to keep my feet feeling fresh and also reduced the problem I have with swelling. After a few minutes I found my feet started to tingle slightly; a sensation I liked! I hasten to add I was sitting by the window next to my children so no other passenger was harmed as I bared my feet!
I continued to use the lotion during my trip and found that not only did it relive tired and aching feet, but it also made my feet feel and look soft. I suffer from dry cracked skin on my heels especially when I wear sandals during the summer months. Although the lotion didn't entirely cure the problem,it certainly improved things!
Burt's Bees is a top end brand and this is not a cheap lotion! I paid £11.99 for my 100ml tube and although that's more than I would normally pay;I think it is worth it!
