Advantages: feels lovely

Disadvantages: poor packaging

I am forever trying out new body lotions and I rarely get through one bottle before I start on another. I do try to give the product a decent chance though with constant use to see how it will affect my skin.
My most recent trial has been the Burts Bees Milk and Honey Body lotion. I was intrigued by this after leaving it in my pack for a while untouched, but after getting great results from the honey lip balm, I was excited to give the body lotion a chance.

Burts Bees use natural ingredients in their products and this one is no different at 98.3% natural. The product blurb told me that the main ingredient in this is the solid residue left over when the water is removed from defatted cow's milk, otherwise known as milk powder.
I was a bit taken aback when reading this and thought I probably shouldn't read the ingredients quite so in depth in future.
Other ingredients also include glycerine, honey and various oils.

The packaging of this bottle is simple yet classy which fits in with many other products in the Burts Bees range. The packaging is a bottle with a screw lid. I was expecting a squeezy bottle for some reason so was a bit wary when I first used this.
I was right to be cautious as I soon found out that when you tip the bottle up to get the lotion out, it runs out everywhere. The lotion is much runnier than I thought so the first time I used it my legs got quite a generous application. Luckily it wasn't my duvet as I wouldn't have been happy at wasting an expensive lotion on the washing machine.

Being a honey based flavour; I was expecting something along the lines of the smell you get from the lip balm. What I got however was a much more subtle smell as it was mixed in with the milk powder which reduced the smell quite a bit. It's a nice delicate smell that doesn't seem to stay on your skin too heavily like some body lotions and therefore won't interfere with perfumes etc you may apply afterwards.

With the lotion being quite runny, I was then careful how I tipped the bottle after the first near disaster. I found the best way was to hold my palm underneath the bottle and then tip gently. The lotion didn't need much coaxing and I found this was I could ease it out into my hand.

Applying the lotion I found to be very easy, however it wasn't so easy not to leave a mess dribbling down the side of the bottle when I'd finished. There seemed to be quite an art to applying this lotion and I wasn't sure it was worth it for the duration of the bottle. There is much easier packaging available on products which give you similar results.

The lotion itself being quite runny, I thought it would absorb into my skin fairly quickly. I found that if too much went onto my skin I had to massage for quite a while to get it all to disappear and for my legs to not feel slimy.
Conquering this was easy however once I had mastered the tipping of the bottle.

After a few uses, I felt my skin had a nice smooth feel to it during the day, even hours after I had applied it. There was no smell left on my legs in particular as this is where I concentrate most of my body lotioning, but even through the stubble that often resides there, it felt less patchy than it usually does. My legs aren't particularly dry but the product is designed for dry skin especially and has done them wonders.

Overall I was satisfied with this product, if only the packaging was better. I have so many body lotions to use up that I won't be buying this one again for a long time, if at all. The price also factors into the equation at £12 for a 7fl oz bottle.
I would recommend if you wanted to try it to get it in a sample format first.

Summary: a nice body lotion
