Advantages: Quick drying, travel size

Disadvantages: Dries out your skin

I have tried a couple of these type of hand gels. One from Sanex and another was Nutrogena i think. I currently have this Carex one though it is in a see through bottle - i think it might be the one for senstive skin. It is a very hand travel size bottle and i keep one in my handbag and one in my car at all times.

I intially started using antibacterial hand gel when i was working as a Speech therapist and it was very useful to be able to cleanse your hands between seeing one child and another without having to traipse around the school to the toilets to wash them.

Since then i've always kept one in my handbag and have lost count of the number of times it has come in useful, usually when out and about and you want to eat something but the public toilets nearby may not be amazingly clean. I always feel like i'm going to pick up more germs by washing my hands in a public toilet washbasin (taps, soap dispenser etc all touched by people who have not yet washed their hands! Not to mention touching the door handle on the way out!), so i often use this antibacterial hand gel instead.

It dries very quickly, you do not need to use much at all but i have to say despite this one saying it is moisturising i have found it to be nothing of the sort. It dries my hands out just as much as the other brands i have used. I think it is just the nature of these gels - i assume they have alcohol in them which dries in the air so quickly but also dries your skin. When i was using it 5 or 6 times a day in school it definately did dry my skin and my hands felt horrible. I still felt a lot better knowing i wasn't passing one child's germs on to another though so still used it. Now when i use it maybe once or twice a week sometimes less i have no ongoing problems - it dries your hands temporarily but a little bit of hand cream later on in the day sorts them out.

Excellent product - would thoroughly recommend, but it is easy to overuse if you are not careful and start worrying that you should be using it all the time as it does make you more aware of germs!

Summary: Great product - travel size very handy & easy to keep with you.You never know when you might need it
