Advantages: Great aroma
Disadvantages: none
My hips are swaying sexily as I saunter down the stairs. I twirl my hands this way and that, my chin held high,a romantic seductive twinkle in my eye. I pop my head around the living room door and wink seductively at the tall dark stranger sitting unsuspecting on the sofa. "AaaRiba" I twist the word over my tongue in a frenzy of excitement, inviting him to taste the delicacies on offer to him. He looks, he stirs. He looks puzzled and then he speaks..."Why have you got a bunch of bananas on your head?" Ok, so I couldn't manage the whole look (Haven't been shopping yet and was down to just banana's ) but the idea was good, planted in my head after using the lovely new soap that my darling husband bought for me today in exchange for the years fishing license that I purchased for him. Of course I have been to Lush. The soap that I purchased is Carmen Miranda. For those of you that don't know Carmen Miranda was a movie star. she secured a popular icon of the 40s as "the lady in the tutti frutti hat." She forever set the standard for the fun, sexy, wild and mischievous Latin woman. A good description of the soap I would say. The look... If you are one of those poor people who have never been to a Lush shop then firstly I have to say how sorry I am...No really, if you don't live near a Lush shop, they do have a really interesting web site where you can purchase a lot of the products that many of us on Ciao constantly rave about. If you are not familiar with lush products I must explain that they are sold by weight, cut off very large beautiful blocks of soap that adorn the sweet smelling shop. They are wrapped in paper (Lush are very environmentally aware and have recycle bins in the shop now for all the containers that they use to pot some of their products.) The paper of course is adorned with the very simple but very chic Lush logo.
I am informed, via the label, that my soap is made up of Kiwi and Juniper berries. Carmen Miranda is made up of different textures of soap, some shiny, some Matt. When the soap is cut you end up with what I would describe as a 'very sixties'design, psychedelic patterns in different shades of green. I have to tell you that this soap looks almost good enough to eat and I couldn't wait to get it home and pamper my tired, dull skin with it. The smell... Wow!......The smell is Divine. This soap puts an average bowl of fruit to shame. The smells in this bar are alive, they dance around your nose, begging you to take a bite, sample the pleasures that the delicious aroma.I smell fruit, I smell passion, I smell life. Not too sweet, thats important, I don't want to want to smell like a candy counter. It's not an overpowering smell in my opinion, nor is it a strictly feminine odour so I think I might have to hide it from everyone else in the house, not just my daughter Gemma. The feel.... When I wet the soap with warm water I wondered whether the beautiful aroma would decrease when it was worked into a lather. It didn't. The smell was just as strong, just as attractive, just as inviting and I really could not wait to get it onto my skin. I lay in the bath like the Queen of Sheba, surrounded by candles and sipping a glass of red wine...Pure heaven, pure luxury. The wasn't loads of lather from the bar, but it didn't feel greasy, which is even more important to me because I am one of those fussy people who cannot stand the look, feel or taste of anything greasy. Carmen Miranda soap felt wonderful on my skin, silky smooth and ever so sexy. I felt not only clean after using it, but thoroughly revitalized and refreshed. The smell lingered irresistibly on my skin. The price... The piece of soap that I bought was about 3 inches square, weighed 0.120 kg and cost me a very re
asonable £2 .34. The price of this soap is £19.50 per Kg. My opinion. Need I tell you ? I think it is obvious...I loved it. It was cool, fresh and really, really fruity. I think the thing is, when I pay a visit to Lush I am looking for a product that will make me feel pampered and special. This soap definitely lived up to my expectations in that department and I was more than satisfied with this product. So it seems is my husband, who is nuzzling my ear. He is now wearing that bunch of bananas, I'll leave where to your imagination.I'm off for an early night.... 'Carmen, the "Brazilian Bombshell" epitomized the spirit, vitality and essence of Latin culture.' That spirit and vitality is captured again in Lush Carmen Miranda Soap.
