My friend bought me this recently as a gift for my birthday. I had seen these products in boots before but never really been able to afford them. I think the body lotion itself looks really nice and expensive, the tube which it comes in is gold and white which certainly looks the part! I love body lotions and creams and always try new ones so was excited to give this one a go. The lotion comes in 200ml and has a flip lid which I always like as you can open it with one hand. I have since bought another tube of this from boots and paid around £6 so it certainly isnt cheap but I do think a good body lotion is something thats worth investing in. When I first used the lotion I was really happy with the aroma it smelt of citrus and was really refreshing. I only used a small amount of the lotion and it seemed to go a long way. The lotion really absorbed well into my skin and made it feeling lovely and refreshed it also smelt gorgeous and I felt like the smell stayed around for ages afterwards which made me feel fresh and clean all day. I love this lotion and have bought myself some more since. I now use it twice a day after my showers. I have noticed a real improvement in the condition of my skin it is really soft now and looks in much better condition. I have found that I am able to get dressed straight after applying this lotion you don't have to wait around for ages for it to soak in like you do with some of the other lotions I have used.
~~~~~~~~~~~ From gel to lotion ~~~~~~~~~~~ This is yet another one of the items that was in my Champneys birthday gift box. I always love trying out new beauty products and this range was totally new for me so it was an ideal present! I've already reviewed the matching shower gel, so here is my verdict on the body lotion! This is part of the Citrus Blush range, and costs £6 at full price. The range is available in Boots and Sainsburys, so do look out for 3 for 2 offers! Other products in the Citrus Blush range include shower gel, body butter, hand gel and a body oil. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Sweet and spicy ~~~~~~~~~~~ This lotion comes in a plastic tube which sits on its fliptop lid - it is different to eh packaging pictured here so I guess this may be an out-of-date image. The lotion contains mandarin, sweet lemon and cardamom, as well as vitamin c and sweet almond oil to moisturise and nourish. I am never really sure about spices in beauty products, so I was a bit concerned about the cardamom in this lotion. But having an initial sniff, I was pleased that the cardamom, although definitely present, is quite subtle. The lotion itself is a nice consistency - not too thick and not too runny. One of my pet hates with body lotions is when they take ages to sink into the skin, but this is definitely not an issue I have with this cream. It sinks into the skin almost instantly, and it has a lovely light feel to it. After it absorbs, skin feels really soft and smooth, and there is no sticky or greasy residue. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Uncertain scents ~~~~~~~~~~~ So in terms of the quality of the lotion, I would say that this really delivers. But it is the fragrance that I am not 100% sold on. I find the balance between the citrus smells and the spice is exactly right, with neither overpowering the other. Both smells are quite delicate and there is nothing wrong with the scent as such. But, having said this, it doesn't really excite me that much! I quite like my body creams to pack a bit of a punch and in this sense, this lotion is a bit boring for me. But this is more of a reflection on me than the cream itself, which I think is actually a really nice lotion. I would certainly recommend it to people who like more subtle fragrances, and I will have no problem happily finishing off the tube I have. And I also think it is good quality for the price. But I doubt I would buy it for myself in the future, as personally the fragrance isn't one of my favourites.
Champneys Spa Treatments Citrus blush body lotion, with lemon, mandarin and sweet almond. ------------------------------------------------------------------ I received this body lotion as a thank you gift from a colleague. Previously unfamiliar with the brand, an internet search reveals it to be nowhere near as exotic as I first thought. Made in Thailand, it is available from Boots for £6 for a 200ml bottle. ***The packaging*** This body lotion is a light caramel colour. This gives the packaging - a transparent plastic tube - a genteel, regal hue. The gold and orange writing on the packaging is simple and easy to understand. Like many other items on the market, the screw-top lid has a flip cap. ***The scent*** I love this lotion's fragrance. It is quite woody and not at sweet. I think that what I smell is the cardamom and the almond. I'm not sure that I can discern the lemon per se, but I can notice a citrus zest aroma at the end of each intentional sniff. OK, so I might not have explained myself very well here, but hopefully the reader has some sense of understanding of this lotion's scent. ***The product*** The lotion has a thin consistency that is easily applied. It feels smooth on my skin, and gives off its lovely scent as it is rubbed in. I must admit that I rarely look at the ingredients of non-comestable products. Of course, I have done so for this review and, frankly, I'm quite disturbed at what I have found today. There are 40 (forty!!) ingredients listed, including parabens, benzotriazolyl dodecyl p-cresol and coumarin!! I simply cannot fathom why one might wish to include coumarin in body lotion. The most well known coumarin is warfarin, which was initially created to kill rats and is most commonly used in the UK as a "blood thinner". I wish it didn't contain so many nasty products, as I really do adore the smell and the way my skin feels after using this product.
I have to moisturize after showering, as my skin is so dry. I had run out of body lotion around Christmas time and luckily my auntie bought me the Champney's Citrus blush body lotion. I must admit at first I wasn't sure if I would give it away as I'm only in my twenties and I have always seen Champneys as something people use in their late 30s. Anyway, I opened the flip lid to give it a smell before making a decision and was so pleasantly surprised with the smell that I had to keep it. Champneys Citrus Blush Body lotion the lotion comes in a 200ml bottle and is priced at £6.00 on the boots website. This is also available on many websites including the Champneys website as well as their spas. Packaging I love the packaging of the Champneys Citrus Blush Body lotion; it comes in a plastic tube (something I prefer as I don't like carrying glass bottle lotions around as I always worry they will smash). The colours on the tube are a lovely golden, orange and creams. Which really compliment one another. On the front of the plastic tube is the 'Champneys' logo followed by the name: 'Champneys Citrus Blush Body lotion'. On the back of the body lotion is the information and ingredients in the product, which can be helpful with people who have allergies. Moisturising/smell qualities Well I was very pleased with the results of the product. My legs are my most dry part of my body and after using the product they looked so hydrated and silky. The smell is so gorgeous, I really didn't expect it to smell so nice and that was the main reason I really wanted to like the lotion. I put the lotion on my neck/ bust area and it overpowered even my perfume and lasted all day. My ex partner even commented on how lovely I smelt. Key Ingredients The champneys body lotion contains sweet almond oil and Vitamin E, which leaves your skin soft and conditioned. The lotion also has mandarin, lemon oil and cardamom, which Champney's claim to leave you feeling refreshed. More information about the product The body lotion is white and has a thick consistency. Something I prefer in a body lotion as it usually means it will be rich and hydrating, something this product definitely is. Champneys recommend using this lotion after showering or bathing, which I use anyway and is a great way to moisturize, as your pores are open so it hydrates your skin more affectively. The product dries quickly which is helpful when you are in a rush to get ready and don't want to leave the house feeling all greasy.The results of the Champney's body lotion last all day and I have even noticed that my skin is getting less dry from using the product. Overall, I love this body lotion. The smell makes it feel like an indulgence rather than a chore. Fantastic product and definitely will buy again. 5/5
I recently spent a lovely weekend at The Champneys Spa in Henlow Grange. It was beautiful and relaxing and somewhere I would definitely go again. Throughout the spa and the hotel they use all their own products, so for example in the showers in the spa you get their brand of Shampoo and conditioner, body lotions and whenever you have a treatment they always use the Champneys branded oils, lotions and potions. In our hotel room we had mini sample bottles of lotion, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner and soap and this is how I came about a little bottle of the Citrus Blush hand and body lotion. I quickly popped it into my toiletry bag so I would remember to take it home and I'm glad I did as I absolutely love it and now, having almost come to the end of the sample size I am going to be buying a full size bottle as I liked it so much. The lotion is from their Spa Treatments range as this is written on the little tube and I would definitely agree that is is a spa smelling type of lotion. Its definitely has the type of smell that you have in a spa but I really like it as it makes me think I have just had a lovely relaxing spa treatment after I have applied it. The lotion contains uplifting lemon, orange and cardamom and although it doesn't smell that fruity to me it still has a really pleasant smell. The lotion is quite strong and you can smell this for a long time after you have applied it. Champneys say this lotion will leave skin moisturised, refreshed and soft.It does have a nice smoothing effect after I have applied it to my hands and I like the way it makes them feel. I was surprised when I first used this lotion as its quite a thin, light lotion. Usually with hand creams you expect them to be quite thick and nourishing and I was thinking that probably this hand cream would not be as good as a thick one but I was wrong and being quite light it soaks into the skin really quickly and easily and doesn't leave them sticky or feeling like you have applied a product. THe little tube I have is only 30ml so it was never going to last that long. You can buy bigger bottles either at the Champneys spa itself or Boots also stock their range. I have had a quick look and a 250ml bottle with a handy pump lid only costs £6 which I think is great value for a lovely hand and body lotion.
I got a tube of this Citrus Blush body lotion in a free Champneys gift set last year. I love anything citrussy, so the name of this product really appealed to me. The body lotion comes in a clear tube with gold accents, which I think looks modern and quite presentable. My travel sized tube has a screw top cap, but the full size has a flip top cap, which I always think is better as it means no screwing the lid back on with slippery hands. Champneys say this contains sweet almond oil, vitamin E, mandarin, lemon oil and cardamom, which will soften, energise and condition the skin. Mandarin and lemon oil are ingredients which particularly appeal to me as I love sharp and zesty fragrances, so I was looking forward to using this. The scent is quite strong and hits me as soon as I dispense the lotion. I was actually really disappointed with the fragrance as it wasn't what I was expecting at all. Although I can smell mandarin in it, the overriding smell is the cardamom. This gives it a very spicy, warming fragrance, rather than the zesty, uplifting scent I was hoping for. It actually smells quite Christmassy in my opinion, I think it reminds me of Christmas scented candles or pot pourri! I also think the intensity of the scent is a little too much - I don't feel I need a perfume alongside this product! As a lotion I find it spreads very thinly, so I can get away with using just a small amount at a time. It sinks in quite quickly although I do find a slightly sticky residue is left on my skin and this lingers for 10-15 minutes or so after application. This is a pet hate of mine, because it means my clothes stick to me when I get dressed. The scent lingers for quite some time after use and as you would expect, gets more muted as the day goes on and I actually prefer the scent once it's settled down. It is fairly moisturising, it leaves my skin feeling hydrated, but doesn't seem to have any other major benefits. I like a lotion that leaves my skin smooth and silky to the touch, but this one doesn't really. Also, in the winter when my skin is extremely dry and flaky, I'm not convinced it would be moisturising enough to cope. A 200ml tube of this costs £6 from Boots. I think for that price I'd prefer something a little thicker and perhaps more moisturising. Overall, I thought this product was OK, but I would not purchase it again. The smell is fine, just not my taste as I find it too spicy and too intense. I also think it's slightly overpriced for what it is and I hate that it leaves my skin sticky immediately after application. So not one I'd buy again, but might be worth a look if spicy scents are your thing.
During the early part of this year I was thrilled to obtain several vouchers from the Boots Advantage Card kiosk with each offering me 200 extra bonus points on selected products from the Chapmneys range. In addition, there was an offer for a free Champneys gift set for all purchases over £10. Consequently, it was simply too irresistible to miss and I found myself making over £30's worth of purchases and therefore, receiving three gift sets with each containing four travel sized products ranging in sizes from 40ml to 50ml. I have had considerable experience of using each and every one of the products with this review discussing the Citrus Blush Body Lotion. APPEARANCE OF THE PRODUCT As my body lotion was contained within a gift set containing travel sizes, my lotion is 40 ml and presented in a transparent plastic tube that sits on a screw off lid. I looked on Chapmneys' website for an image of the larger version, but they have made an error and have displayed a photograph of the hand lotion. Consequently, I looked on the Boots website and would advise that the 200 ml tube is identical to mine other than the fact that it offers a flip top lid. The appearance is considerably luxurious and very expensive looking, as both the lid and the Champneys' logo are presented in gold and there is minimal text on the tube, which enables easy reading. USING CITRUS BLUSH BODY LOTION As the gift set contains a combination of products I had initially expected them to deliver the identical fragrance, but this is not the case and as the name suggests, the lotion offers a refreshing citrus aroma. However, there was another fragrance lingering in the background, which neither my husband nor I could identify and the reverse of the tube lists sweet almond oil, vitamin E, mandarin, lemon oil and caradamom; a word that was unknown to me. Consequently, a quick google search revealed that caradamom refers to several plants belonging to the ginger family and as soon as I learned this I could definitely recognise a very delicate hint of ginger, which was lingering in the background. Only a gentle squeeze of the tube is necessary to dispense a small amount of the pale yellow lotion, which is slightly thicker than other lotions I have used. I am not normally a fan of the fragrance of ginger, as I find it somewhat overbearing, but Champneys have achieved the correct combination of fragrance with the mandarin being the most evident. The lotion is easily applied and rapidly absorbed whilst leaving a wonderfully cooling sensation together with a delicate fragrance that lingers for a good while following application. Whilst mandarin delivers a zesty fragrance, it is considerable toned down with the ginger and is extremely favourable. As this is a lotion it is not intense enough for very dry skin and is more suited for daytime use and although it can be described as lightweight it delivers effective moisturising results. It leaves my skin feeling silky soft and smooth and I always keep a tube in my handbag, as I regularly use it on my hands, particularly as it does not leave any greasiness or sticky residue. Whilst the results were evident after only a few uses it is, of course, necessary to regularly apply to obtain long lasting results. I cannot recommend this product highly enough, which is perfect both in appearance and offers high quality results. Consequently, it receives 5 stars from me together with a huge recommendation. INGREDIENTS AND OTHER INFORMATION I have discussed the key ingredients in my review and should you require a full list they can be obtained on either the Champneys or Boots websites. The lotion should be used within 24 months of opening and the tube can be recycled once empty. PRICE AND AVAILABILITY The only store I have been able to locate a huge amount of Champneys products where a 200 ml tube will cost you £6. However, at the time of writing (25 July 2010) Boots currently have an offer where you can obtain three products from the range for the price of two. I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
