I don't usually dabble much with Champneys as a brand but after seeing one of their product advertised in the new Boots magazine, I couldn't not buy the lovely product that I saw. On my next visit to Boots I picked up the Spa Indulgence Exotic Retreat Body Glow product by Champneys. What does the product do? The product is essentially an exfoliator which promises to buff the skin, removing the dead and dull skin cells to reveal the shiny, healthy ones underneath and your skin feeling completely soft and smooth. It does so using tropical brown sugar and white sands from the Bora Bora beaches. (That's the bit that caught my interest as it's probably the closest that I'll get to Bora Bora!) It also includes Mango Butter to hydrate and nourish the skin as well as Coconut Oil to moisturise and soften the skin. All in all, this sounded like a truly tropical treat for my skin. How do you use the product? The product should only be used about twice a week as exfoliators can be too harsh for daily use. Before you get into the bath or the shower, you should scoop some of the scrub from the tub and massage the product into the skin using a circular motion for a few minutes. Once you're done, you can step into the shower or bath and rinse the product off again. Then you can dry the skin and moisturise after use. Packaging and Price The product comes contained in expensive and classy looking packaging. It comes in a cloudy coloured plastic tub through which you can see some of the honey coloured product inside. It has a gold band around it which say Champneys and a gold coloured screw top lid. The product will cost you around £10 for 200 grams of the scrub and it can be bought from stores such as Boots and from a range of online websites. Application and Performance The product smells every bit as gorgeous as I anticipated that it would after reading the ingredients. It is like a tropical island in a pot! It smells deliciously fruity and refreshing, mixed in with a little bit of creaminess from the coconut. It really does smell good enough to eat but there's a little reminder on the back which reminds you that this product is not in fact food. I got in the shower and dampened my skin because I thought the product would be a little abrasive other wise. The product is quite runny and the exfoliating parts separate from the oils a little bit although the butter binds it quite. I gave it a quick stir with my finger before scooping some from the pot. Because of the consistency of the product, it is easy to massage into the skin. You can definitely see and feel the sand and sugar but it doesn't hurt my skin at all. As long as I don't apply to much pressure then I can feel the exfoliating action without it making my skin sore or uncomfortable. It doesn't irritate my skin in anyway. The sugar particles begin to dissolve away but the sand keeps working for ages. Once I'm done, I turn the shower water back on and the product is easily rinsed away. A little of the sand remains in the bottom of the shower which is why I don't use this in the bath. Once you have patted your skin dry, you'll find that you skin feels so soft and smooth to the touch. It has been hydrated by the product and all the dullness and dryness has been buffed away leaving my skin feeling and looking as good as new. And that delicious tropical aroma lingers on the skin long after use. Conclusion All in all, this is a brilliant body scrub which is packed full of natural ingredients which pamper and nourish the skin. It leaves your body looking in a good condition, feeling soft and smooth and smelling good enough to eat. This is a lovely summer treat for the skin and I couldn't be happier with it! Due to the lovely packaging, it would make a great gift for someone too.
