Beautiful body milk - for an indulgent treat!

Oh my goodness! If you want to totally spoil yourself or someone you deeply love - induldge in Christian Dior J'adore Beautifying Body Milk. You will not believe the sensation. I felt like a QUEEN! I chose to soak in a warm bath and scatter scented candles around the bathroom, the soak with plesant but the magic happen as soon as I open the J'adore bottle! The fragrance is so subtly sexy, you can feel the quality of the product as soon as it touches your hand. It feels like silk on application and continues until it has soaked into your skin. I noticed a slight glow and a wonderful sense of pure indulgence.

It is a little pricey, however, you cannot use this every day - you will never leave home, it is aptly named body milk as you will feel like a total magical Queen once you have had the pleasure of applying it to slightly damp skin. I found this gave me the overall best result.

Christian Dior J'adore Beautifying Body Milk

I absolutely J'adore Dior's J'Adore and for even more luxury in your bath I recommend Christian Dior J'adore Beautifying Body Milk. According to Dior, "The ultra-sensorial delight of le Lait Embellisseur transforms bath time into a moment of pure pleasure." I always love when something is described as a milk as to me I think it already has an air of luxury about it and a pampering that you don't get with just a shower gel or lotion and to me it always makes me think that it is going to be very pure, smooth and kind to your skin.

I would say that the main reason why I love J'Adore so much is because of the beautiful jasmine fragrance, an absolute beautiful sweet smell and it is one of the components of the heart notes of J'adore. It's known as a symbol of soft femininity and is one of the most commonly used flowers in perfumery. You often find jasmine in bath products/oils etc and I think this is one of the best on the market.

This body milk is described as being gentle and refreshing, with a subtle, fragrant caress that envelops the skin, beautifying it and making it glow with pearlescent shine. I can definitely see the pearlescent shine in this lotion. When I pour it into my bath you can see it almost shimmer as it comes out of the bottle. It adds such a beautiful fragrance to the bath and is really lovely to lay in. It does not add bubbles to the water, it just makes your bath water quite cloudy looking but I don't mind not having bubbles when I have a nice fragrance instead. The cloudiness just lets me know that the bath is filled with a lovely milk and laying in it will envelope my skin in the wonderful fragrance and moisturising qualities of this milk.

The bottle is very similar to the perfume. It is in a bulb, tulip shape bottle and is white as opposed to the perfume bottle which is a lovely gold colour although this does have a gold stopper at the top. To me, both bottles remind me of an old fashioned perfume bottle, kind of like one you would find in an old apothecary shop.

The milk does not come cheap, a 200ml bottle will cost you £35, not something to use everyday in your bath but for pampering times or a bit of luxury this is something I definitely recommend.

A gorgeous body milk from J'adore

If you follow my reviews you will be aware that I recently reviewed one of my favourite fragrances, namely J'adore eau de parfum and I later reviewed the matching shower gel. I was first introduced to this range approximately two years ago when I was presented with a gorgeous gift set containing the fragrance together with bottles of the matching shower gel and body milk. Whilst I adored using these beautiful toiletries, unfortunately I was unable to replace them and you will understand why when I provide the price at the end of this review. However, a couple of days after Christmas I was lucky enough to locate in House of Fraser an identical gift set to the one I owned a couple of years ago and as it was half price I simply could not resist a bargain, so I handed over my hard earned cash. Whilst I have only been using my product for a few weeks I have considerable experience of using it in the past and this review discusses my experience of using J'adore Beautifying Body Milk.

        APPEARANCE OF THE BOTTLE

The photograph I provided to Dooyoo as shown above is the full sized version whereas my transparent and very sturdy plastic bottle contains 50ml. The appearance of the bottle is absolutely stunning and mirrors the beauty and luxury of the bottle of fragrance itself. When I see any products belonging to the J'adore range I always associate them with style and sophistication, as they always look so very luxurious and special. The bottle of beautifying body milk is identical in appearance to the shower crème that I recently used other than the name of the product, which is presented in small lettering on the lower section. Each time I choose to use either of my products I have to ensure that I am using the correct one, as only a few days ago I poured the shower crème into my hand believing it was the body milk!

The white oval shaped bottle is very sleek and contemporary looking with the familiar name of J'adore situated in the centre with Dior located in the lower section in beautiful golden writing. We are informed in both English and French that this is a beautifying body milk. The lid of the bottle is as equally exquisite with its' two toned colours of shiny gold on the lower section and an upper section of expensive looking transparent plastic with the initials "CD" engraved within. As the body milk was contained within a gift set there is very little information on the reverse of the bottle other than the manufacturer's address, together with the logo informing us of the lifetime of the product after opening.

        USING THE BEAUTIFYING BODY MILK

The lid easily unscrews where we are able to witness the absolutely stunning aroma of J'adore. If you are familiar with the fragrance you will be aware of its' top notes of champaca flower, mandarine and ivy leaves with heart notes of orchids, violet and rose and base notes of damascus plum, amaranth wood and blackberry musk. Its' aroma perfectly mirrors that of the fragrance, so this is simply ideal to enable you to layer the beautiful scent. I would state at this point to be careful when removing the lid, as whilst I wouldn't say that I am accident prone, it seems to have a mind of its' own, particularly as it is rather heavy and I find it flies off the top and falls to the floor, which results in me crawling around on my hands and knees! In fact, I just opened the bottle for the purpose of this review and have dropped it once again!

Whilst the product does not resemble the consistency of milk, it is extremely runny, so be careful. I have applied a small amount to the back of my hand and as it lies delicately on my skin I can witness its' most stunning fragrance as I am typing this review. Although there are several floral notes contained with J'adore I would state that it is not overpowering, as it is fairly subtle and extremely feminine. Be careful when dispensing the milk, as due to its' consistency it runs from the bottle rather too freely for my liking and only a small amount is needed to cover a large area of skin. It absorbs extremely quickly without leaving any sticky residue and will leave your skin feeling silky soft and smooth.

However, this is not a product that I would choose to use on a daily basis for two reasons. The first being due to its' price and the second that its' moisturising properties are not powerful enough to effectively moisturise your skin. This is an extremely luxurious product and the only adverse reaction I have experienced is when I applied to skin that had suffered a small nick from shaving and it stung like mad! Consequently, I would advise to avoid any areas that you feel may be a little sensitive, particularly as the milk is highly perfumed.

The staying power of the body milk alone is considerably good. However, as I love to be able to layer my fragrances and to enable the fragrance to become a little stronger I like to firstly use the shower gel, then the milk followed by a couple of squirts of the fragrance, which I apply to both of my wrists and behind my ears.

        OTHER INFORMATION

Your luxurious beautifying body milk should be used within 18 months of opening and the bottle can be recycled once empty.

        PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

To provide you with an up-to-date price I have checked Amazon website and almost had a fit when I saw the price of this product as at the time of writing (18 January 2010) I would advise that a 200ml bottle of J'adore beautifying body milk will cost you £53.04 plus £3.99 postage and packing. Consequently, this is not a product I will be replacing and the remainder of my milk will be used very sparingly indeed! Whilst this is most definitely a beautiful and very luxurious product it most definitely does not warrant such a ridiculous price tag, so it loses one star from me.

I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
