“ Brand: Clean & Clear / Scrub / Type: Body Scrub / What it does: Exfoliates, „
As I work for myself these days I am fortunate that I have more time for skincare, healthy living and exercise. This has benefited me greatly as it means that I have better skin, I have lost another half a stone or so and I am finally scheduled for a couple of medical procedures that I had been putting off for work purposes. Now I do cleanse, tone and moisturise, usually twice a day, but if I am in a hurry in the evenings, usually to get in bed, I have been known to use makeup removing wipes or cleansing wipes just to give my face one last clean before bed.
This particular product is available, in a slightly updated form, from Tesco, for £4.30. I received this, for free, from my Mum when she was moving house recently and had a clear out. This product was completely unused and despite having a vast array of different skincare products I was running low on scrub type products so figured I would start using this right away.
Clean & Clear Morning Energy Shine Control Scrub comes in a 150ml bottle. The bottle is a green bottle, quite bright in colour, and it has a clear flip top lid. The product stands on its lid, which I like, as it means that the scrub is there and at the bottom of the container ready for dispensing into my hands. This makes the packaging very functional for me and the dispenser that this scrub comes from is ample to avoid wastage, which I also like.
My skin can be something of combination skin. I have some acne from time to time, usually caused by a disease that I have which has a number of nasty side effects. I also have an oily T-zone, like a lot of women, and as such I can get breakouts on my skin that can be quite nasty and last for a number of weeks. This is the reason that I like to look after my skin as much as I can and I like to use scrubs as I feel clean and fresh after using one, even if my skin still isn't back to tip top condition right away.
Now the scrub itself contains bursting beads, has lemongrass and fruit extracts, and is something of a thin consistency. It is not so thin that it runs off my fingers quickly but it is thin enough that is does not feel like it is clogging up my pores and being harmful to my skin. The scrub has a gel like consistency, that I quite like, and there are some green round beads throughout the gel. These do not actually burst, that I can tell, but they do seem to melt into my skin a little and help to exfoliate my skin. I am not sure what is within these beads, as the packaging doesn't say, and I can't find out online but the beads exfoliate my skin in a gentle way that does not irritate my skin. I thought that the lemongrass and fruit extracts would be more noticeable but there is a slight chemical smell that is more noticeable to me. I am quite fussy about products and while they may be natural, not that I am claiming this is, if I believe they have a chemical smell to them it puts me off wanting to use them any more.
With regards to the overall experience that I have had using this product I would say that it has actually been quite reasonable. The smell is not as fresh as I imagined that it would be, upon seeing the bottle and reading the back of the bottle, and this is off putting for me. As the smell isn't over the top unbearable I continued using this until the bottle almost ran out, then I switched back to a Champneys product I found in my bathroom cabinet. I must say that the shininess I had recently been suffering from around my T-zone area has started to cleared up and this product definitely helped with that. This did help with exfoliating my skin and overall the condition of my skin increased. I won't say that this is the best facial scrub I have ever used, as it certainly isn't with its off putting smell and lack of hard exfoliation (which I prefer), but overall it is not bad at all, worthy of 3/5 anyway. I got about 3 weeks usage out of this, using it once most days, and that is with a very small amount left in the bottom of the bottle. Maybe I would use this product again, but probably only if it was free if I am honest.
Clean & Clear Morning Burst Shine Control
When it comes to facial products I tend not to be brand loyal. If something doesn't work I won't buy it again. This is where this comes in, the previous product hadn't been working so I picked this up.
The product comes in a bright green squeezable bottle (Slightly different to the one shown in the image). The product stands on it's flip top making it easy to get out even when it is running out. The gel itself has small grains in, as well as larger green coloured beads - which are supposed to burst. Although they do seems to burst I have never managed to see what comes out of them.
The bottle states that this product will 'wake you up' - well I personally find the bath / shower will help with this, although I can't categorically state this doesn't help to make me perkier in the morning. It does leave my face feeling clean, and fresh though.
The product also claims to 'gently ex-foliate, leaving you shine free all day' - well the product does seem to ex-foliate, although this does not negate the need for a deep old proper scrub product to be used on a weekly basis. But it doesn't leave me shine free all day, how long I stay shine free does depend on all sorts - but I'd have to say lunch time is generally the best it has managed. Which is a little disappointing.
The final claim on the bottle is that it smells of lemon grass, and fruit - ans this is true, it does smell citrussy, with an undertone of toilet cleaner. (The toilet cleaner wasn't too obvious at first - but after weeks of use this does seem to come to mind more and more often)...
I bought this product on offer 2 for £4, and the retail at about £3 each in many supermarkets, so it was reasonably priced.
I have to say that I wouldn't recommend this really, there are nicer, more effective products out there that cost about the same.
I bought this from a car boot as it was only £1 and I thought i'd give it a go.
The facial wash contains small beads that burst on impact with your skin. The colour of the wash is green and it has an uplifting citrusy scent to it. You only need a small amount of the wash as it is really foamy and it lathers up very well.
The wash is easy to use and the smell really helps to wake you up in the morning as it is really energising and fresh. The wash is easy to distribute on the skin and it washes off easily without leaving any residue on the skin after use. I did like the facial wash. It left my skin feeling really clean and shine free. The only downside was that I couldn't really feel the "burst" that it promised and using the wash twice a day was too much for my skin. It ended up drying my skin out and my skin was left feeling quite tight after use.
I then used the wash once a day and used up the whole tube, however I wouldn't buy it again. It's a little chemical and fake, I much prefer more natural skin remedies.
The smell of the wash is amazing though and it does last ages so it is good value. My tube lasted me for four months! A little goes a long way.
Worth a try.
My morning routine goes: wash, moisturise whilst still dewy and then whilst the moisturiser is still obviously there, get some foundation on. I'm pretty insecure about my skin tone and used to suffer terribly with my skin so I tend to like to use a daily scrub to make sure my skin condition is fresh, exfoliated and smooth.
There are plenty of products like this on the market and this retails at about £3.99 (Boots website price at time of writing). I picked it up when on a slight discount as I often do and decided to give it a try.
Clean & Clear Morning Energy Shine Control Daily Facial Scrub - one hell of a title! I suffer from shiny control issues on my T-zone and as such the oil-free shine control nature of this product really appealed while it was on offer. I have used Clean & Clear products before and found them to be pretty good for their price.
This product is a slightly runny, clear gel with exfoliating beads held within it. The packaging is a stand-up tube slightly modified from the one shown in the dooyoo image, graduating from opaque green at the top with the company logo to almost clear at the bottom; it stands on the dispenser end with a flip lid. It comes in 150ml bottles.
The packaging claims the following:
*With bursting beads
*Wakes you up
*Gently exfoliates for shine free skin all day
*With lemongrass and fruit extracts
Right, let's address these claims one by one:
*Bursting beads - I can only assume these are the slightly bigger, dark green round beads within the gel. Do they burst? Well it's hard to tell when it's on your face in the morning. So, in the interests of a good review, I had a poke around and hooked one or two out of the main clear gel and gave it a prod - not so much "bursting" as "squidging". They do break down but to be honest I have no idea what is held in these beads or what benefit they provide - this is my bugbear about this item. The packaging gives little to no details about what the benefits of it's components or ingredients actually are.
*Wakes you up. Ahem. Does it hell. Unfortunately, my phone blasting out "Fearless" by The Bravery wakes me up, far too early. This product has a very clinical smell, whereas for a face scrub to have any kind of energising, "wake up" effect, for me it would need to have a fresh, natural, fruity zest to it. This doesn't.
*Gently exfoliates for shine free skin all day. Now I will give this product it's dues here. Since I have been using it I have noticed that my shine issues have been reined in slightly. For that I have to say it is a good product, because God knows this is something that I struggle with and it makes me very self conscious. The effect of this product is that my skin feels smooth, takes moisturiser and foundation well, and whilst I am not shine free I do not expect to be, yet have noticed improvement in this element.
*With lemongrass and fruit extract. Well I'm sure this product does have it, but first of all again I would prefer packaging that explains the reason behind their inclusion and I have to say that I can't smell them immediately, which is a shame as I love lemongrass! I still think the scent of this product is very clinical and unnatural.
I'm not sure about the texture of this product; it is quite runny when dispensed yet when applied "neat" to the skin it feels like it could be awfully drying. Of course it is a shine control product, but there is a difference between shine control and drying out the skin, which is something I worry about when selecting my products.
The scent is too fake and clinical for me; it's clearly been designed to smell fresh and uplifting but for me personally only natural scents can achieve this.
For it's price I think that this product performs well if you are able to balance it with a good moisturising strategy and don't use too much of it; I find that a small blob, mixed with water before application, is more than enough to provide smooth skin as a basis for the day's make up. A standard tube has lasted me about a month with almost daily use.
Overall I wouldn't rule out using this again if it were on offer as there are benefits to it, but the scent is overpoweringly fake and I would prefer a product to have more explanation behind it's ingredients and how it works.
Stumbled across this product randomly in the £1 store. I hate to pay through the nose for essential items as I have better things to spend my money on then £4 for a facial wash that I will need to replace every month, so getting this for £1 was an absolute bargain!
I guess the packaging grabs your attention because its so bright therefore making you pick it up and read it.
As facewashes go i'm not too fussy, i have normal skin don't suffer from spots or acne (get the odd outbreak) but i like to mix it up a bit so my skin doesn't just get used to one kind.
The bottle is easy for shower us as it stand up easily and the lid is simple to open without getting it everywhere. The gel is very silky and refreshing to the skin, the little exfoliating beads help take dead skin off and give your skin a more awake and vibrant look.
I think a lot of the reason I think this product is so good is because I got it for £1, if i had paid closer to £5 for it I think I would say that was a disadvantage but for a face wash for normal skin it is fine. I can't comment on if it clears up spotty skin as i don't have it.
I really can't rate this product highly enough - I love it and it really works for my combination skin. I use it as part of my morning skin care routine. I find that despite being a "scrub" it is gentle enough to use every day. It does what it says it will - controls shine. I notice a real difference with how shiny my skin looks if I don't use this product in the morning - using it really helps to make my face look clean and clear, without the giveaway shine us oily skin sufferers have to endure.
The product itself is made up of a gel like consistency which contains tiny blue "bursting beads" which gently exfoliate your skin and the gel removes dirt, oil and impurities. A little of this scrub goes a very long way, so although it isn't the cheapest skin care scrub on the market, it is economical to use.
The smell is gorgeous too and certainly wakes you up in the morning, I really can't fault this product. I have tried many many products for oily and combination skin over the years, and although this isn't a "miracle" product, it is definitely the one that I wouldn't like to have to live without as it makes my skin look clean and almost glow without shine.
Clean & Clear Morning Burst Shine Control Facial Scrub is part of my daily skin care routine and without it I would be totally lost. Why? Well, without using this product I am sure I would have more spots and terrible yucky skin. One time, I did run out of this and did not replace it for quite sometime as I thought I could do without this product now. Without it my skin just did not feel as clean as it once was, gained more spots and made my skin look terrible and greasy. Soon as I started using this product again my skin began to regain its smoothness and look somewhat healthy.
My skin is between oily and combination, prone to spots near time of month, skin gets greasy, but more so in summer. This product is ideal for daily use, it exfoliates but its gentle, its makes skin feel soft and smooth, refreshing - like it's been properly cleansed. Does not feel like it's getting a bit oily till a few hours after, so for me the shine free all day just did not workout.
Clean & Clear Morning Burst Shine Control Facial Scrub comes in a 150ml tube in a Lime green/light green colour, the best thing about this is you can see the actual product in the tube so you can tell when it is about to run out. It will last a long time if used carefully, think I purchased this in summer and still have a third of the tube left. Be careful when squeezing the product out, a whole lot of it will come out, in fact I am still scooping bits of it from the top to use.
The product it self is what I can only describe as washing powder in a clear gel. It is said to contain lemon grass and fruit extracts, I can't really notice the lemon grass but it does smells slightly fruity but not overpowering. Directions are to wet face and gently massage all over face. It produces a good lather and you should be careful when washing off as bits of the gel gets stuck round the eyes so rinse well before you attempt to open them.
It costs just under £4 but places like Asda and Boots have any 2 for £5 offers in the clean & clear range.
Owning up to exfoliating your skin is not really something that most men are proud of. But, believe it or not, most men do it. I do. The Clean & Clear Morning Burst Shine Control Scrub is my choice of weapon in the war against dirty and greasy looking skin and it works really well.
My skin can look a bit rough around the edges and (especially my face) greasy so when it comes to skincare products I often find myself paying more that I really want to. Although not cheap (around £4 a bottle) this is a really good product which works really well for me and is well worth the money.
As you use it, you can literally feel your face getting cleaner, it has an 'invigorating' fragrance (their word not mine) which honestly does make you feel fresh and your skin smooth. As the title suggests it has 'shine control' which, in my experience, dramatically reduces the greasy look of skin.
I've recommended this to a few people and all have been surprised by how well it works. If you keeo an eye out, some supermarkets put it on buy one get one free offer and it would be well worth getting a few bottles.
