I do love Clinique products and although they do cost a lot of money (there is no arguing about that) I do think they are worth the cost because whenever I use them they always mange to make me feel extra special and pampered.
For a Christmas gift last year I was given a set of Clinique Aromatics Elixir products. The set was beautifully presented and contained Clinique Aromatics Elixir Perfume, Body Wash and Body Smoother. Now you can buy all of these products individually, and I have done so after using them in the set, but the product which most blew me away was the Aromatics Elixir Body Wash. It was a small sized tube (well, smaller than the standard sized one you get for £15.90, as this contains 200ml of gel). I think my tube was probably about half of this size.
I would usually list the positives and the negatives of a product in a review but suffice to say that this review will lean towards the positives only, I'm afraid, as apart from the cost, I cannot really think of one negative about this wonderful Body Wash.
The first time I used this I was impressed by the smell as soon as I opened the little flip top lid. I also liked the slightly lemon coloured packaging with gold embossed writing (which is the same as on the perfume and the Body Smoother). The perfume in this range is a wonderful smell and if I try to describe it here I know I will not truly do it justice. It is heady, woody and yet fresh all at the same time, if that makes sense. I can always detect the lovely aroma of jasmine, combined with both patchouli and camomile and all of these aromas combine so well together to give a perfume that is amazing. So many of my friends have commented on my perfume whenever I wear this and I was so excited to try to the other products in the range to see if they were as good as the perfume.
The Aromatics Elixir Body Wash is exactly the same smell as the perfume, but obviously on a more subtle basis. I usually take showers during the week and have baths at weekends (when I have more time) but I was pleased to learn that I was able to use this gel whichever way I decided to wash. The first time I used it was actually in the shower and I poured a small amount of the pearly coloured translucent gel onto my blue 'scrunchy'. I was amazed at how well it lathered up and one small squirt was enough for me to lather my whole body, from top to toe.
It feels so soft and sensual on my skin and it actually feels like I'm really pampering myself. The heat of the shower also seems to intensify the small of the perfume and for ages afterwards when I went back upstairs, the shower room was giving off a lovely smell of the lingering perfume - the smell actually lasted longer in the shower, I think, than it did on me. However, having said that, I cannot complain about the longevity of the smell on my body because for ages afterwards I was able to detect the aroma of the perfume as I wandered around the house. This is a lovely product to wear alongside the perfume I think, because the body wash kind of 'reinforces' the perfume, if you get what I mean, and gives it more staying power.
The Aromatics Elixir Body Wash left my skin feeling refreshed, beautifully cleansed and soft and smooth. I felt well and truly pampered afterwards. The second time I used this product was in the bath. I simply poured a very small amount under the running tap over the bath and was amazed at how many bubbles appeared. I have to say though, that it was the smell, which was the most impressive feature of this wonderful gel. It was fantastic to just laze there for an hour or so, close my eyes and enjoy the aroma and the feel of it against my skin. I didn't want the bath to end. This, added to the fact that it left my bathroom smelling so gorgeous afterwards was a real plus point for me.
Once I had used the entire product in my gift set, I was so in love with this product that I went out to buy myself another standard sized bottle and now I am just about finished this one as well. I don't use it every night - maybe about twice a week as it is on the costly side at almost sixteen pounds, however, as a once a week treat I think I am worth it.
I can heartily recommend this lovely Body Wash and if you are a bloke who is looking for the perfect gift for your wife or partner (or like me, you just like to treat yourself every now and again), then I don't think you could go wrong with this product. Try the set first and then I'll bet you go on to buy another bottle like I did.

I was given several tubes of this Clinique body wash by the friend of a friend who works on the Clinique counter - they are plain 'tester' tubes, given to me presumably when Clinique realised having body wash in a communal tester in the middle of a large shop was probably not the cleverest idea. I was a grateful recipient though and from the first time I used it I fell madly in love with this, the best shower gel in the world.
As I've mentioned it comes in a tube rather than a bottle, the shower gel being squeezed out of the hole in the cap. The gel is the perfect consistency for this; it's thick enough that you need to give the tube a healthy squeeze to dispense it, and this same thickness prevents you wasting any as it comes out of the tube smoothly and lands nicely on your puff without dripping all over the shower floor. At this price you really do not want to waste a drop!
The smell is very perfumed, that's the best way to describe it. To me it has a similar type of fragrance to a Ghost Night shower gel that I used recently, or to put it another way it smells like it should be used in conjunction with an actual perfume for a layering effect. Which it should be, apparently it is part of Clinique's Aromatics range which includes a perfume and other matching body products. I'm discussing it as a stand-alone body wash here however as I've never tried any of the other products in the range.
You get an amazing amount of lather from even a very small amount of body wash; I only use a blob around the size of a 50p piece and this is plenty to cleanse my entire body and cover it with a thick, rich foam that feels extremely luxurious. The scent of the body wash intensifies as you wash in your warm shower, it never becomes overpowering but I do find myself wishing for a fruitier or more girly fragrance instead of this highly perfumed one. This body wash feels moisturising as I shower with it, afterwards my skin does feel slightly softer but this aspect is negligible really and I definitely wouldn't say it's a miracle product.
Mixed in the thick gel are tiny gold particles, my heart sank when I saw them as Mark gets so annoyed when I use glittery bath and body products. This is mainly because he's had the proverbial ripped out of him several times by his mates after turning up at jobs sparkling with the remnants of whatever Lush product I used the previous day. I needn't have worried though, these golden infusions disappear as you lather the body wash up and there's absolutely no glittery residue - which disappointed me a bit if I'm honest as that's the sort of thing that would, in a moment of weakness, steer me towards splurging on a product like this.
Because here's the downside; a 200ml tube of this body wash costs anywhere between £25 and £32. Yeah, Clinique definitely are taking the piss. It's a gorgeous shower gel, there's no denying it from me - but it's not worth that, no way! I'm all for splurging, I'm the sort of woman who *will* buy expensive products if I think they're worth it. To a point. And that sort of money for a bottle of shower gel is well past that point.
It doesn't do any more than a bottle of any mid-price shower gel; hell, I feel better about buying my twelve quid Lush shower gels now as they really do make my skin feel nicer. This is a pampering product, nice to receive as a generous freebie but not something I'd ever spend my (Mark's) hard-earned on.
I love Clinique Aromatics perfume and have been wearing it for years now. I never buy any of the accompanying products in the range but as I usually get my bottle of Aromatics in a gift set I have ended up with the body wash and butter a few times.
If you were to buy it seperately the body wash would cost you £20.00 for a 200ml bottle and while I do love it I wouldn't be willing to pay that much for a shower gel on it's own.
Although it is expensive you can tell it is good quality from the minute you open the tube as the smell of the Aromatics is really strong and it isn't some cheap shower gel with only the barest hint of the scent you got it for.
The wash is like a thick cream that looks like it contains little glitter particals but when you use it these little particals don't leave your body covered in glitter and instead just melt in to the skin.
The wash lathers up extremely well and I find that using just a tiny amount on a shower puff is enough to do my entire body.
When my body is lathered and then rised off the smell from the aromatics is beautiful and very strong which is impressive for a shower gel. It isn't drying either and leaves my skin feeling quite soft and smooth.
The scent las for such a long time and I can easily use it in the morning and it would last for the entire day.
For me personally I see Clinique Aromatics as more of a night time smell and even though the perfume itself is strong on it's own the body wash does help layer it but instead of becoming overpowering it actually blends well with the perfume and body butter to leave me smelling divine.
Yes it is expensive and as I said I wouldn't really pay £20 for a shower gel especially not one that I would be using regularaly but as the gift set always contains a 75ml body wash for free I find that it lasts me long enough until my next purchase of the perfume.
If you love the smell of Aromatics and don't mind paying the £20 then buy this as it is one of the best accompanyments to any perfume on the market and isn't some cheap shower gel without much scent to cash in.
In November Dave was wondering what he could buy for my birthday taking into account that money is a bit short at the moment. I tried to tell him not to bother but there was no way he was going to listen to that as an option!
One thing that I had almost finished was the bottle of my favourite perfume, Aromatics Elixir by Clinique. Dave had collected almost enough points on his Boots Advantage Card to buy me a new bottle so that was decided upon.
Dave then received an offer from Boots for 1,000 bonus points if he spent £50 so off he went and bought stocking fillers for me and his mom together with some bits and pieces that he needed and he had the points for the bottle of perfume - or so I thought!
When it came to my birthday I opened my main present to find a Clinique gift box. The set came in beautiful silver coloured box with just the word Clinique written in capitals across it. It was simple but classy, as this product richly deserves.
Inside the box were 2.5 fluid ounce containers of body smoother and body wash together with a bottle of perfume - I was thrilled to bits especially as my lovely husband had bought the set with his Advantage Card points!
This opinion is specifically about the body wash as I have already submitted one on the perfume and I shall do a further one on the body smoother at a later date.
I have taken a look at the Boots website to find that the body wash is currently on sale at £19.00 - ouch!
The first thing I noticed about the body wash, apart from the lovely fragrance, was the texture of the liquid. It is a translucent, pearly colour and is very soft to the touch. I know it sounds crazy to say that a liquid is soft, but it's true. I have never felt anything like it before.
This wonderful body wash can be used in one of two ways -
You can use it in the shower by applying directly to your moistened skin or your sponge or shower puff and then continuing your shower in the normal way. I love the feeling of this on my skin as it is so soft and smooth and the fragrance surrounds me in the shower. Obviously because of the cost I don't use this on a regular basis - I keep it for 'best' and use it along with the body smoother and perfume for the full effect.
You can be seriously decadent and add the body wash to your bath by pouring a small amount under the running taps. This creates the most amazing bubble bath I have ever experienced. The water is soft and smooth and the fragrance is out of this world. This is lovely when I feel like pampering myself.
The fragrance of Aromatics Elixir is just about the loveliest aroma that has ever caressed my nose and so the idea of bathing in the body wash, applying the body smoother and then a touch of perfume is just about as good as it gets for me!
It gives my whole skin the faint aroma of Aromatics Elixir so I can smell it every time I move and it is divine. Sorry about all the adjectives in this opinion but this is so nice I can't find words that adequately express just how good it is.
It's not something I would do on a regular basis purely because I can't afford it, but just before going out to somewhere special it would make me feel like a million dollars!
And I don't want to hear anyone say - yes, all green and crinkly - I've heard that one before!
So thank you to my lovely husband for saving up all his points to buy me such a wonderful gift.
Having fallen in love with Clinique Aromatics Elixir perfume I thought I would give the matching body wash a try.I had a birthday coming up so asked my husband to buy it for me which he duly did bless him.
The body wash comes in the same lemon coloured box as the perfume with Aromatics Elixir Body Wash in gold coloured writing and the following on the back: Now the famous complexity of Aromatics Elixir can wash the body with scent. For shower apply body wash to moistened skin and complete your shower as usual. For tub bathing dispence gel under running water to create a scented foam that leaves skin fragrenced cleansed and softened. There is then a long list of the ingredients which don't really give any idea of what it smells like so I won't bore you with them.
So on to smell. Obviously it smells the same as the perfume with a fresh woody character with light violet overtones, camomile, white jasmine and patchouli. It is not as strong as the perfume but a milder version of it. Does make the bathroom smell wonderful though.
The tube itself is lemon coloured with a flip top dispenser which is easy to use and handle in the bath or shower. I squeezed out a ten pence piece sized blob onto my net scrunchie thingy which I think was too much as it lathers up really well and I probably could have washed myself twice over with the amount of foam. Clinique call it a gel but I would say it was more a golden coloured cream, quite thick and luxurious.
I was a bit concerned about my "delicate" parts with it being a perfumed product but there was no irritation at all. The lather was rich ,smelt lovely and felt luxurious.
Aterwards my skin smelt of the fragrance but not strongly so and it lasted for the rest of the night. I felt thouroughly cleansed and my skin was nice and soft.
My husband paid £15.90 for 200mls from Island Cosmetics with no P&P which seems expensive for a body wash but considering you don't need much of it to get a good lather it should last a fair while. I wouldn't use it everyday either maybe just special occasions or when I feel the need for a bit of pampering (that'll be most days then!). It can be bought from StrawberryNet for £14 something but as this company is based abroad and I've never dealt with them before i'm not sure if there would be any import duties payable.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this gel especially if you are already a fan of the perfume. I would love to use it every day but tend to save it for special occasions due to the price. So if you have a birthday coming up drop a few hints and give it a try I'm sure you'll love it!
