      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      an expensive body lotion

Clinique is a premium beauty company who specialise in make up and skin care products. They also have a small range of fragranced products.

      ~Happy Heart Body Cream~

Happy Heart is said to capture the floralness of the original Happy fragrance. Its scent is presented in the form of an perfume, body wash and body cream to allow the scent to be worn alone or layered. The scent of Happy Heart is described as being "A wealth of flowers. A hint of warmth. A deepening of emotions. Wear it and have a happy heart."

The body cream in this range is described as being "luxuriously rich". It should be applied around the body to condition, hydrate and soften the skin. The body cream should also leave the skin with the Happy Heart scent.

      ~Packaging~

Regardless if you have a gift set or full size tube, the body cream is presented in a tall tube with a flip lid at the base. The full size tube is a two-tone pink colour whilst the gift set tube is a baby pink colour. Each tube features the relevant product information and once opened, can be used for 24months.

      ~Scent~

Happy Heart is classed as a floral-fresh scent and the following notes reflect this. The body cream should carry an identical (but perhaps less concentrated) scent as the perfume.

*Top notes - cassia, cucumber and mandarin orange
*Heart notes - carrot and water hyacinth
*Base notes - white woods and sandalwood

      ~Price~

A 200ml tube is currently available from Clinique counters (Boots, House of Fraser etc) and is priced at £25.00.

      ~My Thoughts~

I can't say I have ever been overly pleased with Clinique fragranced products. I didn't like the original Happy but never one to turn down a freebie, I accepted a 75ml tube of Happy Heart Body Cream from my sister. She received it as part of a set with the perfume but cannot use the creams herself. The packaging is nice and nothing overly special. I like the lid being at the base as it allows every drop of cream to be squeezed out and very little wastage.

Looking at the official scent description for Happy Heart, it is a rather unusual blend of fragrance notes and it wouldn't have been a cream (or perfume) that I would have bought myself based on the description. I own lots of body creams and my preference is to apply directly after a shower and allow my skin to soak up the cream and stay moisturised throughout the day. I have dry and sensitive skin so need something to keep it in tip top condition otherwise it is pointless using it.

      ~Happiness Comes From A Tube..Err Ok..~

The cream squeezes from the tube with ease and is a shiny white colour. The cream has a rich yet easy to spread consistency and feels cool and soothing on freshly showered skin. A tiny blob is plentiful to coat my arms in an even layer. I also use it on my legs and around my knees. The cream absorbs very quickly and leaves no residue on my skin. The surface of my skin feels immediately soft and smooth.

As this is a cream (rather than a milk or lotion), I would have expected the moisturisation to be really good and noticeable. Unfortuantely I was let down by this cream. It softens the surface of my skin but doesn't soak right in to provide deep down hydration. It may be rich but it simply isn't strong enough to penetrate my dry skin and has no effect on my dry elbows or knees. Very disappointing given the price.

The scent of Happy Heart is much nicer than the original Happy. I have used the perfume and although not my favourite, I do quite like the less powerful scent from the body cream. It is the perfect body cream to wear during the warmer days as it comes across as a fresh, Summery scent and is strong enough to wear alone (without perfume) for a light aroma.

The cream has a refreshing blend of fragrance notes. When freshly applied, it offers an uplifting and lightly sweetened and sort of citrusy scent. It settles after a short while and changes to a light floral, sea like scent - subtle but it flows well and retains a bit of sweetness. After a few hours, the scent deepens and leaves an earthy, woody aroma on my skin. The woodiness sits quite close to my skih and is very different from the rest of the scent. I would say the scent is prominent for around 5hours without a top up of perfume or up to 8hours with a spritz of Happy Heart perfume.

      ~Conclusion~

This is a pleasant cream to use for the scent and is appealing for that reason only. It is no where near worth the price that Clinique and other stores charge as the moisturisation is minimal and I would be better buying a bottle of perfume and a cheap, unscented moisturiser.

Overall I cannot give this cream anymore than 3 stars as it doesn't perform all its intended roles.

      Thanks for reading x
