~~Background~~

Clinique was launched in 1968 and is an Estee Lauder company. When it first appeared it was unique in provided dermatologically tested skin care products. Now the company has over 40 years of experience and knowledge of producing high quality products for individual skin types. The products are all allergy tested, fragrance free and are suitable for sensitive skin. When testing a new product a large focus group is used and if only one person has any sort of reaction then the product is taken back to be reformulated. Clinique provides treatments for the skin which are individually tailored to each person.

~~Consultations~~

If you are considering using Clinique products you can get a free comprehensive consultation from a Clinique representative in shops such as Boots, Harvey Nichols, Debenhams etc. This give you the chance to ask questions about the products, try them and create a treatment package specifically tailored to your skin type. You will be asked a series of questions about your skin to determine what skin type you are. There are four general types numbered one to four, but you may be a mix of more than one. (I was mainly number three). The representative will also explain how your skin can be irritated and how Clinique helps to clear it. Although I knew some information about skin problems I didn't know about how to look after it properly so it was really interesting and useful. Once you know what skin type you are you can create a package to suit you. I got the three step cleansing routine to help reduce blemishes. Furthermore a report card is created for you so your details can be remembered and you can arrange to go back for check up consultations. Finally I have always found that there is no pressure to buy anything, you can pick and choose what you want.

~~Products~~

Clinique has a wide range of products from cleansing and make-up to shaving products for men. The containers can vary from tubes and bottles of varying sizes and come in colours such as pale green and blue (mens are generally black). They all show the name 'Clinique' in white with a white 'C' as a logo. These products come in cardboard boxes of pale oranges and greens and give a feeling of high quality. The prices can vary but generally Clinique is not particularly cheap. I bought three large bottles for my three step cleansing routine which cost me just over £40. However I could have bought a smaller set for around £30. A small moisturiser tube might set you back around £12 and a liquid foundation is £19.50. This might seem expensive but they do last a long time and they are extremely good quality. When using my cleansing routine I noticed my skin was brighter and smoother within a few weeks, however I did have a few breakouts. I went back for another consultation and they told me that it was a treatment process and that the dirt in my skin had to be drawn out so breakouts were to be expected at first. It was true, a week later my blemishes disappeared. My sister also uses Clinique and she also found her skin really cleared up. I also use the foundation on my skin as I do have sensitive skin which is prone to blemishes. I find that with Clinique I have no problems and the foundation itself is easy to apply and light on the skin. The range of products is amazing and you can find something to suit you. It doesn't have to be a cleansing treatment, it could be an anti-aging treatment or you could get a make-over to try the make-up range.

Clinique has a long history of producing high quality products designed to help your skin. They are thoroughly tested and I have found from experience that they are very effective. The Clinique staff really know what they are talking about and are always there to help. I have never found a product that really considers your individual skin type and provides such in-depth advice. The range of products is excellent and well worth the money.
