Advantages: brilliant moisturiser

Disadvantages: awful scent

The idea of 97% natural cosmetics (without parabens, sulphates or petrochemicals) seemed very appealing to me so when I was making an order with Naked, I decided to buy quite a few products. 24 hour naked coco de mer body butter was one of them.

It comes in a recyclable, round pot that is fairly see-through but has a brown lid. It is fairly plain but provides all the necessary information; it is also practical and fairly robust (I am quite clumsy and tend to drop my cosmetics quite a lot). When I opened, the intense scent reached my nostrils really quickly. It is meant to smell of coconut and passion flower oil and I guess I can smell a little bit of coconut however the combination is very weird. The scent is very strong, sweet and quite overwhelming and I really do not like it. It is also quite exotic and definitely feminine. It really put me off using it and I tried offering it to a couple of my friends but none of them liked the smell.

Since none of my friends wanted the body butter, I decided to persevere and use it. According to the producer, I should smooth over my body after bathing to 'lock in the moisturise and ensure that my skin feels good enough to stroke'. Since the body butter is very thick and rich, it wasn't easy to massage it into my skin at first. It slightly melts if I keep it on my hands for a couple of seconds which makes it easier to apply.

The producer promises '24 hour moisturise for skin with an insatiable appetite' and the promise is definitely kept. I tend to get dry skin only in places like elbows and I need a good moisturiser after shaving; this one quickly made me skin smoother, softer and it felt really well-hydrated.

The 300ml pot goes quite a long way. Because of the scent, I will not be buying it again which is a real shame as it is a very good moisturiser. It costs £4.99 online (I know it can be found in Boots as well however I have never seen it there).

Thank you for reading my review.

Summary: hated the scent
