Advantages: I can't see any

Disadvantages: Plenty

I normally use Dentyl PH mouthwash which I love but due to this contamination scare they had recently the shelves in the supermarkets and Boots and Superdrug have been emptied of their products so I had to get something else. I haven't really tried many other mouthwashes before and generally find mouthwash to be quite expensive so I saw there was Colgate on offer and having been happy with their toothpaste decided to go with that.

The bottle is clear plastic which is good for knowing how much remains so you know when you need to go and get some more. The one I picked was the Cool Mint version which is a bright blue and looked quite nice. It promises 12 hour protection against bacteria and plaque. It suggests you rinse for 30 seconds then gargle with it and spit it out.

The first thing I noticed about this mouthwash is the taste. I am not a fan of mint to be honest but have learned to get used to it seeing as most mouth related products like mouthwash and toothpaste are mint flavoured. But this mouthwash just tasted absolutely disgusting to me, it was just horrible and there was no way I could keep rinsing and gargling with this for a whole minute. The most I ever manage is about 20 seconds in all then I just have to spit it out. This could be just because their mint flavouring is disgusting or it may be to do with the fact that this mouthwash contains alcohol and this affects the taste or it could be a combination of the two but I think this needs improving. Also I don't like the fact that this contains alcohol as there have been links made between mouth cancer and alcoholic mouthwash. It's probably not that much of a factor but if it makes it taste this bad simultaneously then I certainly give my vote to the non-alcoholic ones. I also find myself unsure of whether I have cleaned my mouth or not because with this product you cannot see the results in the sink so I never know if I've done any good or not or whether I am just torturing myself unnecessarily. It does make my mouth feel different but it's more of a unpleasant burning sensation rather than a fresh clean feeling and sometimes my eyes water when I use this. Oh and it also leaks onto the counter.

As you may just be able to tell I did not like this. Compared to my Dentyl PH it tastes horrid, you can't see if it's helping and it's alcoholic so it's Dentyl 3 and Colgate nil.
If my review has not put you off this costs about £3.22 in Superdrug. I won't buy this again.
